Sondra Powell

1943 ~ 2021

Obituary Photo for Sondra Powell < >

Sondra Ann Mackerell Powell (Sam, mom, grandma, and Samma) left this earthly life on November 16, 2021 resulting from injuries sustained in a motor-vehicle accident.

Sondra was born on September 3, 1943, blessing the lives of her loving parents Alvin (Mack) and Elma Mackerell. She married Joseph Neil Powell on July 30, 1964. She lived her life with such enthusiasm and excitement. She loved to shop, decorate for the holidays, and travel. She was famous for her holiday parties and her festive décor. There could never be enough decorations, or gnomes, all of it brought such a beautiful smile to hers and everyone else’s face, and that’s why she loved doing it. Most importantly, she absolutely loved and held her family closest to her heart. They meant the entire world to her. Her family will always hold on to the tender memory of her kisses on the cheek and telling them “I love you honey”. She had the most contagious laugh that would light up the room and she knew exactly what to say to make everyone’s day a little brighter. Her quick wit and sense of humor brought so much happiness and light to her family and everyone who knew her.

Sondra was the most beautiful soul inside and out who lived life to the fullest. She left a lasting impression on everyone she met, becoming an instant friend to all. Sondra was always thinking of others and was the most selfless person one could know. Even with her passing due to her being a donor the corneas of her beautiful blue eyes will bless two individuals.

She leaves behind a family that cherished and loved the countless memories with her. We are absolutely heartbroken, and she will forever be missed. We know she will always be by our side, our forever angel that one day we will be with again. She is survived by her loving family husband Neil; daughters Sonya (Bob) Wolford, Robin (Joe) Hancock, Gigi (Terry) Addison, grandchildren Austin Wolford, Jessica (Spencer) Shook, Nik (Jessica) Wolford, Jared (Peyton) Hancock, Quinton (Karlee) Addison, Colton (Jorden) Hancock, Jacob Hancock, Emily Addison; great grandchildren Jay, Bronx, Bodhi, Theo, Millie, Mila, and Jaxon, brother Richard (Christine) Mackerell, sister Denise (Steve) Tuckett.

We would like to thank the finest first responders and the newest member of our family Brody Davis who held her hand and gave her comfort and love as she transitioned to the caring arms of her parents in Heaven. We are forever grateful for their kindness. Brody said it best, always remember to hold your loved ones close and live every day without regrets. Although he only met Sondra briefly this is exactly how she lived every day.

We will be holding a celebration of life for Sondra at the beginning of the new year. If you wish to attend please email celebratingsondrapowell@gmail.com or if you wish to share memories of her. Details will be shared through email and via social media.
