  • Jonelle Ashby Lewis was born February 15, 1958 in Ogden, Utah to Clarence (Bud) and Melva Donaldson Ashby. She passed away peacefully at home on June 6, 2020 at the age of 62.

Jonelle spent most of her childhood in Sacramento, California before moving to Utah at the age of 12. She attended Cottonwood High School in Murray, Utah. She was married to Marty Lewis for 30 years and had 3 children, Ryan, Ashlee and Skyler. Her big loves in life were bowling, crafting, and her family. She spent many years working, bowling, and making friends at Junction Lanes in Midvale until its closing, then at Allstar Bowling in Sandy working with the Thursday night men’s league. She also built so many friendships through the years with all of her crafting endeavors. She was always a friendly face at The Paper Attic, loved all her quilting adventures and scrapbook retreats, and more recently started working with wood crafts as well.

Jonelle loved her family more than anything. She loved to travel to see family out of state. Winery tours, driving through Amish country or New York, and eating bumper pie were some of her favorite memories. She also enjoyed her girls’ trips, whether it be an overnight hotel stay for her birthday or a week in the sun in California. The kids all loved their Grammie and the small moments will be treasured always.

Jonelle is survived by her mother Melva Donaldson Ashby, children Ryan (Becky) Lewis and Ashlee (Jared) Smith, sister Valerie Ashby and brother Kendall Ashby, and grandkids Alexandra, Cambree, Brecklyn, Kaiden, Ashton, Grayson, Caylee and Roman. She is preceded in death by her son Skyler Lewis and father Clarence (Bud) Ashby.

Funeral services will be held for family Friday, June 12th at 11am at Larkin Mortuary in Riverton. Open visitation for friends will be held from 9:30-10:45am at the same location. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date for any who wish to attend.

Great memories of Jo during my many annual visits to Utah. Our friendship grew over the years. She drove with the Brown clan across country to come to my wedding. Very special memories seeing her children born and grow up. My thoughts, prayers and love go out to all her family and friends.

    Marty, Ryan. Ashlee & family...

Wow... just another person taken way too soon. I’m heartbroken for you all... she was a lot of fun... and way too young.?
I’m sincerely sorry, and my heart hurts for you all. Especially Ashlee.... it sucks... and it will never not suck...
I’ hope all our people are in the “better place?”
I still wonder? ... but she is somewhere awesome .. and she will leave you messages...
Watch for them... my dad leaves pennies , head side up, all over this house.♥️
