Beloved Husband, Father, Public Servant and Friend, Terry Lee Miller, passed away in his home in West Valley City, Utah on April 9, 2019.
Born in Santa Ana, California, Terry grew up in and around San Diego, California. After graduating from high school, he joined the United States Air Force. While stationed in Denver, Colorado, he met and married his wife, Dorothy. They were later stationed at Vandenburg Air Force Base near Lompoc, California, where their two children Mark and Dana were born. Terry and Dorothy were later sealed for Time and all Eternity in the St. George, Utah Temple on June 29, 1984.
In 1969, Terry became a Traffic Officer for the California Highway Patrol. He served the State and People of California in the San Bernardino, Buellton/Lompoc, and Templeton/Paso Robles areas. During his last three years in the Paso Robles area, he served as a Flight Officer with the Air Operations Unit. After a 30-year career with the Highway Patrol, he retired with full honors.
Terry was a friend to all. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He had a great sense of humor and would do just about anything to make someone laugh. His family and friends all loved his quick wit and fun-loving spirit.
Vacationing and trips were a big part of the Miller Family. The family enjoyed boating, camping and just being together. Terry has an eclectic list of hobbies and interests; bicycling, wood working, tennis, golf, motorcycling, jeeping, boating/fishing, model trains and planes, and many more.
In 2001, Terry and Dorothy moved from California to Lehi, Utah to be near their children and especially their granddaughters.
Terry was a devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served in many callings throughout his membership. His favorite was nearly 12-years of service in a Young Singles Stake at Brigham Young University. Terry loved his interaction with leaders and young singles during his time at BYU.
Terry was himself, and never pretended to be anything else. He taught us how to love unconditionally. He taught us how to make the best of whatever life gave to us. Our love for him was great because his love for us was great. It has been our privilege to know him, to experience life with him and to love him. We will miss him. But we know he lives; we will be with him again. He will always be ours!
Terry is survived by his Loving Wife, Dorothy Miller; Children, Mark (Shanin) Miller and Dana Miller; Granddaughters, Kate and Kristin Miller; Brother, Charles Thomas Miller and Sister, Patricia (Tom) Petty. Preceded in death by his Mother, Virginia Dougall Mankins.
