Robyn Layne Fewkes

1953 ~ 2016

Robyn Layne Fewkes passed away on the morning of August 23, 2016 in Murray, Utah from complications of cancer at the age of 63. Robyn was born on June 6, 1953 to Harold Lavell Fewkes and Ethel Janice Taylor in Salt Lake City, Utah and grew up in California.

As a member of the LDS Church, Robyn served an 18 month mission in Guatemala and El Salvador. She attended BYU where she received a bachelor's degree in Education then worked at Alta High School in the Jordan District for 23 years before going on disability. Although she lived with multiple sclerosis for 20 years and had two bouts of cancer, it did not prevent her from living her life to the fullest. As she lost her abilities, she would fill her life with something new. In January 2010 when she needed full time care, she moved to Rocky Mountain Care of Murray.

Robyn loved the outdoors and enjoyed hiking and biking when she was younger. Music was also an integral part of her life. She played the guitar and recorder, sang, and became a gifted choir director. When these talents were no longer feasible, she learned to write and arrange music. She then picked up writing and authored three books, "Faith First in Jesus Christ" , "The Father's Plan, The Son's Mission and Our Life's Purpose", and "The Hour Has Come". At the end of her life she discovered a talent in drawing with her non dominant hand. She used these talents to bless the lives of others.

She found joy in being creative, in serving others and especially in teaching the gospel. She had a deep and abiding faith in the Savior and bore her testimony often. She taught by word and example and was a positive influence for good to others.

She is survived by her siblings, Kym Marie Crookston (Kim) of Valencia, California; Dee Fewkes (Chris) of Paris, California; Kerry Fewkes (Laurie) of Riverside, California; Julie Roberts (John) of Marysville, Washington; David Fewkes (Debbie) of Kaysville, Utah; and Durran Fewkes (Debbie) of Eagle Mountain, Utah, her best friend and spirit sister, Christine Reese of West Valley City; and 24 nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and a niece, Mallory.

A viewing will be held in the Briarwood Ward building on 3751 South 2200 West on Tuesday, August 30 from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm and on Wednesday, August 31, in the LDS Church on 5605 South Vine Street beginning at 9:30 am prior to the services which begin at 11:00 am. Interment will be at the Larkin Sunset Gardens Cemetery at 1950 East 10600 South. The family would like to thank all those at Rocky Mountain Care of Murray who took care and loved her.
