William Anderson Meaders

1920 ~ 2014

William Anderson Meaders (Bill) was born in Newton, Kansas to Anna Catherine Mayer and William Anderson Meaders. He leaves behind three children, Christine Meaders Durham (George), Therese Meaders Moore, and William A. Meaders, Jr. (Ellen), twenty grandchildren and twenty-four great-grandchildren, each of whom he cherished and named individually in his daily prayers. He married Louise Christensen, the love of his life, in 1947, and together they traveled the world and spent their lives in service. She passed away in 2000, and he has anticipated a joyful reunion ever since.

Bill was part of the "greatest generation," who did what was required of him with good grace, great competence, and no complaints. He spent four years in the army in World War II, serving in England and France, and the benefits of the G.I. Bill enabled him to complete a college degree and earn a CPA. He worked for the I.R.S. and U.S. Treasury Department for 25 years in Los Angeles, Washington D.C., France, Brazil, Vietnam, Colombia, Paraguay, and Bolivia, and later worked as an auditor for the L.D.S. church, traveling extensively on global assignments. He spoke French, Spanish, Portuguese and a little German, and was a friend and comfort to people of all stations wherever he went.

Bill joined The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in 1952, and the gospel he embraced became the lodestone of his life. He served his church in countless assignments (including two missions with Louise, and serving in district presidencies in Paris and Bogota), and consistently rejoiced in the love and blessings those opportunities brought. In retirement he became a skilled genealogist, teaching others how to do family history and tracking his own extensive lines. He was always good for a spirited debate on family history, politics, and B.Y. U. football. His family, friends, and associates loved his kindness, intelligence and wit. We will deeply miss his presence in our lives ‚ he cared about us and for us -and the beauty of his well-lived life will sustain us in our loss.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, November 1, 2014 in the Forestview Chapel at 1111 Charlton Avenue, Salt Lake City. Friends and family may call at the chapel from 9:30 to 10:30. Online condolences may be made at www.larkincares.com
