Dr. Richard E. Randle

1935 ~ 2016

Richard Randle, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend was born July 4, 1935 , the fourth son of Arnold C. Randle and Anna Dodge. Rick met Kay Graff at Granite High, and they were married on Nov. 15, 1955 in the Salt Lake Temple. They have 5 children and 20 grandchildren. Rick was an honor student at the University of Utah and a life long Ute fan. He served an LDS mission in Eastern Canada. In 1962 Rick received a DDS degree from Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio, then spent a year internship in Gainesville, Florida before obtaining an advanced degree in Orthodontics. He spent over 30 years as an Orthodontist inHolladay, Utah. He served as President of the Utah Society of Orthodontists in 1974. Rick treated Native American students and many other needy patients for free during his 30 years of practice. Rick was the founder and CEO of Utah Orthodontic Care in 1997. He was always community minded and served as President of the Holladay Rotary Club in 1973. He co-founded the Park City Rotary Club in 1980. He was a speaker at many patriotic events over the years. He coached many Little League baseball and basketball teams. He volunteered doing advance work for President Ronald Reagan from 1980 to 1983, He was with Pres. Reagan when he visited Ogden and Hooper, Utah in 1983. When he retired from Orthodontics in 2001, Rick founded a War Veteran Speaker Series held monthly at the Salt Lake City main library for the past 15 years. In 2003 Rick initiated with KUED a five part documentary series interviewing Utah Veterans who served in World War II. He was a co-writer, host, and narrator of the award winning series, Utah\s World War II Stories. He was proud to help in preserving the stories of hundreds of veterans. In 2006 he received a television Emmy Award for Utah\s World War II stories \"The Pacific\". In 2010 he received a second Emmy for his work on Utah\s World War II Stories \"Untold Stories\". Later he was host and narrator for theKUED production of \"Utah Vietnam War Stories\". Rick and his wife Kay have presented over 50 programs to schools, senior centers, and other groups reflecting the sacrifices made by WWII veterans in preserving our freedom and way of life. He served on the U of U Veterans Committee for seven years. In 2013 he was honored as a Days of 47 Pioneer of Progress. Rick\s greatest joy was his family. He treasured the memories of watching his children and grandchildren grow up. He was close to all of them and dearly loved them. He spent over 50 years playing golf with his family and friends.

He loved riding his Harley up our canyons with his boys, hiking Millcreek, and he treasured the memories spent with family and friends in Midway and Las Vegas. He and Kay have been able to travel throughout the world, creating a deep love for freedom in America and a great appreciation for living in Utah.

Rick lived a full, satisfying life, thanks to the love of his family and many lifelong friends. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Kay , sons and daughter, Cal (Shannon) Jeff, Linda Marz (Ken) Brian (Angie) David (Lindsey) 20 grandchildren, a brother Howard (Ruth). He was preceded in death by an infant son, Joseph Todd,his parents. and brothers Arnold and Max. Services will be held Friday, Feb.26 at 11:00 at the Olympus Cove Ward 4176 So. Adonis Drive 3950 E.
