Dennis Perry

1946 ~ 2016

Dennis Perry was born January 1, 1946, in Murray, Utah, to Eldwin and Ethel Stone Perry. He was the first baby born in Murray that year. His parents moved to El Paso, Texas, when he was 3, and he grew up there before spending the first few years of his career in Denver, Colorado, before returning to Utah, where he met his princess and love of his life LaDawn Perry. They were married in the Salt Lake Temple by Elder L. Tom Perry and together they raised their 5 children. He was very proud of his children and even more proud of his grandchildren. He worked at Utah Power and Light for many years until suffering a stroke in 2002. Things were never the same after that day, but his family says they learned many life lessons and grew stronger and closer because of it.

He is survived by his wife LaDawn and their children Beverly (and Jesse) Lee of Salt Lake City, Brad (and Adriana) Perry of Salt Lake City, Barbara (and Andrew) Holmes of Corona, California, Spencer Perry of Salt Lake City, and Jennifer (and Nick) Blumberg, of Salt Lake City, his grandchildren, a brother, Melvin (and Andra) Perry of Bakersfield, California, and several nieces and nephews.

His family will always remember him for his generosity and his unwavering commitment to his family and friends. His family says it is difficult to put into words the sense of loss that the feel now. The loss is tangible and real within the whole family. Today they honor him with profound feelings in expressing their loss, but will never forget the amazing husband, father and grandpa he was. They will always have memories of him working in the yard, building an awesome treehouse, his aviator sunglasses, and his love for Star Trek and Home Improvement. He loved his fish pond in the garden that he would show the grandkids whenever they came over, and then they would pick all the ripe strawberries off the vine and eat them. He also loved giving out nicknames for everyone, including (Bel belts), (Bradsy brad), (Barsy bars), (Spency suez), (my Jenzy), and (Shortcake), just to name a few. Today they will grieve and cry for their husband, father, grandfather, brother and uncle and even smile because of him. In all the tomorrows, they will feel him… Gone in some ways but his presence is near. Families are forever, and for that, it's till they meet again.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Solstice Home Health for taking such great care of their dad and family.
