Alice Barbara Dillier Burbidge

1925 ~ 2017

Alice Barbara Dillier Burbidge, 91, was reunited with her husband and childhood sweetheart January 19, 2017. Alice was born October 20, 1925, to Charles and Anna Dillier in Salt Lake City, Utah. At Irving Jr. High she fell in love with and later married Eugene \"Gene\" Burbidge, on June 30, 1943 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.Inseparable, they supported one another in any number of endeavors, the greatest of which (she would say) was raising six happy and accomplished children. Brought up on a farm in a time of scarcity, she never forgot the importance of generosity. To her, there were no strangers, especially if they were hungry. Our family members were the direct beneficiaries of her considerable cooking skills, though anyone in need was considered family. Mom always made sure we knew and understood our duty to care for others and that all were to be treated as brothers and sisters.

Mom demonstrated this kindness in every part of her life, including as a devoted member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, serving others in many callings. Alice had a passion for sports which was put on hold in her younger years. When the last child was off to school, she fulfilled a passion for golf. She relished the friendships and friendly competition the sport provided. In fact, she was present on the golf greens up to the last year, taking dimes from her favorite golfing partner, her daughter Carol. Mom was an astute business partner with Dad in the Concrete Pumping Business, and continued to operate the business after his passing, until her retirement in 1992. She will be missed by her family and friends, children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren whom she loved so much.

Mom is survived by her children Dennis and Rosemary Burbidge, Michael and Dixie Burbidge, Richard and Suzanne Burbidge, Carol Burbidge, David and Becky Burbidge, and Vaughn and Wendy Burbidge. Her rich legacy includes 25 grandchildren and 55 great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband, Gene, and two grandchildren, Ben Jacobsen and Doug Holbrook. Funeral services will be held Saturday, February 11, 2017 at 1:00 pm, in the Monument Park Stake Center, 1320 Wasatch Dr., SLC, UT. An open house will follow from 2-4 pm, at the same location.
