A Tribute to Bruce Alan "Newby" Newbold

On May 4th 2016, Bruce Alan Newbold "Newby" decided that he had earned his wings. He returned home with honor while his loved ones surrounded him. Born December 28, 1956 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Noal Clegg and Doris Dianne Lloyd Newbold. He was raised in Murray, Utah. A proud Murray Spartan where he was a cheerleader, wrote many of the pep assemblies, served on the School Senate, and was FBLA State President. He faithfully served an LDS Mission to the Illinois Chicago Mission, Spanish speaking. He married his forever sweetheart Lynda Sue Durrant on June 8, 1979 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. His greatest treasure in life was his wife. He adored her and was amazed by her. His love for her was obvious in the way he would kiss her, hold her hand and take care of her. He was always so thoughtful in his gifts. Their love was truly worthy of a fairy tale. They have 5 beautiful children and 9 grandchildren. He joined the United States Air Force as a medic in 1980 and proudly served his country in San Antonio, Texas for 4 years. He was successful in his career as an Acct. Manager in the electronic sales industry because he loved working with people. He worked in the industry for 32 years, currently with Avnet Corporation.

His life was filled with service, humor, and helping his fellow man. He strived to "Make A Difference" every day. No one was a stranger in his eyes. He knew everyone he came in contact with by name and was genuinely interested in them. He made it a point to make people feel special. It was just second nature to him. He was an energetic child, a hellion of a teenager, a devoted husband, an involved father, and a playful grandfather. He was a fierce, fierce friend, righteous priesthood holder, faithful Home Teacher, and a beloved co-worker. He loved the Gospel and had an unwavering testimony of the Savior Jesus Christ and the power of the atonement in his life. He and his wife had the privilege of serving the inmates at Lone Peak Prison facility as Gospel Principles teachers for the past 5 Ω years; a calling that he was passionate about. Throughout his life he served in many capacities in the Church including: Bishopric, High Councilman, Young Mens President multiple times, YSA advisor, and Gospel Doctrine teacher. He magnified all callings to the fullest.

He loved to write. His creative works were endless. Some of his works include poems, short stories, plays, road shows, and songs; especially for his sweetheart. He achieved his lifelong dream of being a published author with his book, "The Life and Times of Alexander Neibaur", a biography of his wife's ancestor whom he greatly admired and most wanted to meet. He enjoyed being artistic, whether it be doodling, creating props for plays, hosting elaborate parties, or inventing his own games. He loved to have fun, his motto was "work hard to play hard!" He strived to be positive and found joy in all things. He taught us to get through life by constantly reminding us that "Attitude is Everything" and to "Expect the Unexpected". He loved life and lived it to the fullest.

He is survived by his wife Lynda, their 5 children; Cara "Bear" and Jason Childs, Krista "Bug" and Jeremiah Burton, Bryan "Bud" and Megan Newbold, Alex "Ace" Newbold, Kayla "Peanut" and Jordan Brown; 9 grandchildren: Maddie "Moops", Emma "Ems", Nathan "Nate", Olivia "Livie", and Isaac "Zeke" Childs, Landon "Pierre No Hair", Macin "Mac" Burton, Neleah "Nay", and Rylee "Ray of Sunshine" Newbold; and grandpup Charlie "Chuck" Brown, and furry companion Moe; his sisters Melanne Newbold, Julianne and Jeff Jensen, Anjela and Bryce Schieving, Mother-In-Law Betty Durrant and Lynda's family, and many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends too numerous to name.
