Tyson Curtis Hunt, 32, passed away on May 1, 2020 in his home in Sahuarita, Arizona. He was the husband of Amanda Olsen Hunt and was the father of 3 beautiful boys. He was an incredible father and husband who would do anything for his family. Tyson and Amanda were just shy of their 8th wedding anniversary. Tyson had a fast progressing form of ALS and fought for 7 months all while remaining positive, joking around, caring for his family and keeping his mind towards God’s will for him. He was an amazing example during his fight by being meek, humble, patient and full of love.
Tyson was born to Steven and Patricia Willis Hunt in Salt Lake City. He graduated from AMES Academy in 2006. Tyson worked hard to become an Eagle Scout. He served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Rochester, New York for two years. He was a follower of God and his son Jesus Christ. He strove to learn about the gospel of Jesus Christ and the prophet Joseph Smith. He consistently did his best to do everything the Lord asked. Tyson was a man of integrity, honesty and good works. Tyson graduated from the University of Utah in 2013 in computer engineering and worked as a quality assurance engineer at Degreed. As a boy, Tyson loved taking things apart to see how they worked. He enjoyed camping, skateboarding, snowboarding, playing games with his family, going to Disneyland and chilling in front of the TV. Tyson loved to take on challenging projects that benefited all those around him. He had a hunger for knowledge and enjoyed sharing that knowledge with others.
Tyson is survived by his wife and his boys Emerson, Daxton and Callahan; his parents and his four siblings: Karen (Renn) Lambert, Christie (Mark) Taylor, Brian (Tiffany) Hunt and Jason Hunt; as well as many other relatives and friends who love him.
A viewing will be held Friday, May 8, 2020 followed by a graveside service held at Larkin Sunset Lawn. Because of COVID 19, contact a member of the family (tyswitz@gmail.com) if you would like to attend.

I met Tyson as he served as a missionary in my home ward in upstate New York. The friendship that we built and the missionary work we did together changed my life. It helped me get fully active in the gospel again, inspired me to serve a mission, and left a lasting impression upon me that has stuck with me since. I never fully got the chance to thank him, but I look forward to a coming day again that I do! My thoughts and prayers go to his beautiful family and loved ones and I know that the plan of our loving Heavenly Father will allow this beautiful family to be together forever.
We are sending our love to Amanda, the boys, Tyson’s parents and siblings and so many other extended family members. We are grateful we got to live near Tyson and get to know him for the last year.

Elder Tyson Hunt conducted a District Mtg. one Thursday, 2009 on the Catterraugus Indian Reservation chapel in The NYRMission.
He was apologetic for some reason, thinking out loud about some perceived lacking on his part.
He then taught the 8 district missionaries about his feelings of the 1st chapter on Nephi 1, and the significance Elder Hunt felt for Joseph Smith the young prophet translator of that record. He said “I think this was written for Joseph Smith, and blessed him”.
Tyson had us open our scriptures to that chapter, then told us why each verse was a blessing to Joseph Smith.
I felt the Spirit of what Elder Hunt was teaching us, and the value of the Book of Mormon—I thanked him during that meeting , saying that ”Elder Tyson Hunt should never hesitate to share his feelings about the scriptures”.
It was for me a memorable experience as a senior missionary couple being taught by a young Elder, and District SE.
I had even thought on occasion that our attendance at district meetings was optional as senior missionaries, but I have been grateful every time I think back on that meeting.
