Eric William White

1953 ~ 2015

Eric William White, 61, of Sandy, Utah, passed away Saturday March 14, 2015, from a very aggressive cancer. He has been reunited with his sweetheart LuAnn, who also passed away from cancer a short three months ago.

He was born July 24th, 1953, in Rock Springs, Wyoming to Dell and Edith White. He was married in the Salt Lake Temple on Feb. 24, 1978, to LuAnn Nelson. The two had three children: Alisha (Bret) Fund, Amanda (Jeremy) Carter and Anthony William White. He is survived by his children, four grandchildren, two siblings, several siblings-in-law, numerous nieces and nephews, and many friends. He was fiercely loyal to the friends and family whom he loved.

He attended Orem High School in Orem, Utah, where he grew up after moving from Green River, Wyoming. He graduated from Utah State University in Logan, Utah. He later received a masters degree from the University of Utah in Salt Lake City, Utah. He was very active in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, where he served in numerous callings over the years. He was very artistic in his endeavors and had a deep love of photography.He served as a photographer for The Church for a few years before opening his own photography studios. His time with The Church was spent traveling to places near and far, using his artistic talents for the Ensign Magazine. One of his old-time photography studios was located at "This is the Place\" State Park in Salt Lake City, Utah.

In his spare time, he most enjoyed spending time with his wife and children. He enjoyed traveling with his wife LuAnn. He was a certified Scuba Diver and went on dive trips with her in Hawaii. Having been born on Utah's Pioneer Day, he felt a close connection to his pioneer ancestors and others who lived at that time. He spent uncountable hours teaching his children about their forefathers through long hikes, trips to historical sites, and thoughtful journals that he carefully assembled with photographs and stories. One of his greatest life achievements is a photographic book of the entire Mormon Trail.

Funeral services will be held Saturday March 21, 2015 at 11 a.m. in the LDS Silver Mesa Ward 8945 S. 1700 East, Sandy. There will be a viewing Saturday morning from 9:30‚10:30 a.m. prior to the services. He will be buried the same day at approximately 3:30 p.m., next to his wife in the Smithfield City Cemetery.
