Richard Frederick Crebs

1928 ~ 2018

All who knew Richard Frederick Crebs recognize why the world has lost the greatest husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and brother who has ever lived. Born August 30, 1928, in Salt Lake City to Vera Maycock and Frederick Robert Crebs, Richard passed away suddenly at the age of 89 on April 10, 2018, serving others to the end.

Richard attended Salt Lake City schools and was known for his work ethic and unique ability to hold down several jobs to support his family. Ultimately, he successfully co-founded and operated Material Handling Equipment Company for over 30 years, where his daughters all worked.

He married Glenda Walker on September 4, 1958, in the Salt Lake LDS temple. They made their home in the cherished Valley View 8th Ward in Salt Lake City for the past 60 years. Richard served four missions for the LDS Church and accepted any calling asked of him, including bishop, always going the extra mile.

Richard was so beloved because he loved and cared for everyone with whom he came in contact. He left you better than he found you. His work ethic and determination was something admired by all who have had the good fortune of knowing him. He raised six daughters which was no easy task! He taught us how to work hard and play hard and to love University of Utah sports!

Richard's happiest moments were found at Lake Powell, at his cabin in the mountains, running races well into his 80s, watching his grandchildren in their pursuits, serving others, playing or watching just about any sport, keeping up his beautiful yard, and having his family around him. He will always be our hero. We will go forward striving to be our better selves in anticipation of our happy reunion when we can embrace once again and tailgate together around the poolside.

Richard is survived by his wife, Glenda, his sister, Joan Carlson, and his six lucky daughters: Dicksie McDonald (Jack), Sandra Evans, Lauri Condie (Steve), Ann Weight (Eric), Diane Baker, and Jana Gardner (Doug). He is also survived by 22 grandchildren and 30 great-grandchildren whose lives will forever be enriched because of the legacy left by this remarkable man.

His viewing will be held Sunday evening, April 15, 2018, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Larkin Sunset Gardens, 1950 E 10600 S, Sandy, Utah. Services will be held Monday, April 16, 2018 at the Holladay North Stake Center, 4395 S. Albright Dr., Salt Lake, at 12:00 noon, with visitation beginning at 10:30 AM. Interment will be at the Wasatch Lawn, 3401 S Highland Dr., Salt Lake City.
