Welden Leon Daines

1932 ~ 2016

Welden Leon Daines, husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, uncle and friend passed away February 12, 2016 at home with his wife by his side after a long battle with cancer.

Welden was born April 23, 1932 in Burley, Idaho to Aletha Olsen and Malcom Hill Daines.

Welden graduated from South High School in Salt Lake City, served in the Air Force, and received his bachelor\s degree in accounting from the University of Utah. He married Mary Lausanne (Zonnie) Forsberg March 12, 1954 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.

He started his professional career as a certified public accountant, running a successful firm, but his entrepreneurial drive got the best of him which lead to the creation of many successful enterprises which are thriving today. He will be missed by his employees, associates, clients and partners. Throughout his life, and in his own quiet way, he influenced and encouraged many to be their very best. The hallmark of his life was that through his service to others, he created for them opportunities to improve and grow. That influence continues to manifest itself today in the many lives of those he touched.

The love and purpose of his life was his family and friends. He was dedicated to whatever they were doing in their lives. Welden\s passion in life was being with his family and friends in the pursuit of fishing or traveling the world.

Welden is survived by his wife, Zonnie; sons, Allyn F. (Cindy) Daines, Brent W. (Tearsa) Daines and Richard L. (Andra) Daines; 17 incredible grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. Preceded in death by parents, Aletha Olsen and Malcom Hill Daines; brothers, Preston Daines, Earl Daines and Ralph Daines; sister, Inez Williams; and reunited with son, Scott Norman Daines

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Feb. 17, 2016 at 12:00pm (Noon) at Larkin Mortuary, 260 East South Temple, Salt Lake City, Utah. A family greeting will be held prior to the funeral service from 10:30 to 11:45 AM. Following the funeral service the Interment will be at Larkin Sunset Lawn, 2350 East 1300 South, Salt Lake City, Utah.

The family wishes to thank each of the caregivers who assisted him his final days and to Dr. John R. Weis and his staff at the Huntsman Cancer Institute Clinic.
