1948 ~ 2025
Alan “Al” Latimer has checked out. He died Monday, December 22, 2025, at home in Riverton, Utah, surrounded by those he loved. Just like during his entire life, he didn’t want anyone to wake him up.
Alan was born April 29, 1948, much to the chagrin of his older brother Larry, who really didn’t want any competition. But Alan came out and immediately began a life of being competitive at everything. Alan’s parents, Earl S. and Bernice Atkinson Latimer, his brother Larry, and sisters Sheri and Penny lived in Salt Lake, Fort Union, Crescent, and Sandy.
Alan graduated from Jordan High School in 1966 as the Utah State champion in his weight class in wrestling. Alan had the attitude that if he was going to do anything, he had to be the best at it. No compromising!
Alan married the love of his life, Sharron Wright, in 1969. Alan and Sharron were the proud parents of Dustin, Zane, and Cameron.
Alan followed his dad, uncle, and grandfather into the electric sign industry as an installer and then a sign salesman. He excelled at sales—almost always leading in prospecting and annual sales volume.
Among the loves of his life were Sharron; hunting; fishing; Dustin, Kristin, Emily; camping; Zane, Shawn, Mercadeez, Tori, Lacey, Ally; snowmobiling; Cameron; golfing; visiting ghost towns; four-wheeling; exploring; finding and creating challenges; sleeping in; winning arguments; and not being on time.
Alan was late to so many events, parties, meetings, family gatherings, and almost everything else that family members and friends often referred to him as the “Late Alan Latimer.” We are pretty sure he’s not at all upset that it’s finally really true and that it will be part of his legacy.
A visitation will be held at Larkin Sunset Gardens (1950 E. Dimple Dell Road [10600 South]) on Monday, December 29, 2025, at 11:00–11:45. Following the visitation, a graveside service will begin at 12:00.
Sharron, So sorry for your loss of Al. I remember us hanging out when I was married to Ric Hartman. I will be praying for you and your family.
You were and are my best friend ever and I love you like a brother. Rest in peace Al and I’ll see you on the other side !
Sharron I was so sorry to hear that Al passed away. He worked hard at YESCO and was a real contributor. I am grateful to know you and him. We pray that you will feel comforted and blessed by the Lord as you move forward in the years to come.
Penny, so sorry to hear about Alan❣️
So sorry to hear the passing of Alan. I will forever cherish the fond memories, especially our wrestling time at Jordan 65’. He will be missed. Condolences to the family.
I’m sorry we never had the pleasure of meeting Alan, but Linda and Larry had mentioned him frequently during our 40+ year long friendship. We pray that God will comfort Alan’s family. Thinking of Larry Latimer, and all of Alan’s friends and family.
Sharron and family, hope all is well for you even through this tough time.
Al was an important influence in my life as a mentor and friend during the 80’s & 90’s. We were the last of the Sign & Advertising “Madmen” who pathologically rejected authority, salaries and hierarchy's of men. Al was the top guy outside of Vegas, he knew I envied that and yet he helped me along, a truly good friend and a mentor with no agenda for a return of invested time in me. I am eternally grateful.
All the fun… hunting, fishing, poker nights, traveling together …those were times I think of often, Al would make wherever he was..the funnest place to be.
Being the coolest guy, the top guy, the closer, the guy who offered advice to anyone that asked for it, the guy you would call if you are broken down in the middle of nowhere, the guy who was such great friends with his clients that they wanted to hang out with him even though they didn't need to buy anything….. it was a rare combination, a rare gift he had… Such an opportunity for us all to witness his life.
If you’re having trouble getting into heaven, just tell the guy at the gate you are buddies with Al Latimer, problem solved.
I was honored to benefit from knowing him.
Rest Well my Friend,
Jeff Krantz
Sending all my love and prayers for comfort and peace to consume all of us who love Al. I'm eternally grateful for having had him in my life. May you rest in peace ❤️
Dear Sharron and Family:
I was saddened to hear about Alan’s Passing. He and his family lived literally a stone’s throw from us on Galena Drive in White City and Sheri was a classmate. I have fond memories of Alan as somewhat of a wild child. But, he was always good to me although a couple years older. I wrestled the same weight as he did as a Sophmore at Jordan…and he beat me up, it seems like every day at practice; but he was a great wrestler and great guy who also taught me a lot about wrestling and toughness. I admired hm as I do you my old friend and fellow Beetdigger and along with Sheri members of the Class of ‘68 at “Dear Old Jordan High. My thoughts and prayers are with you and you family. May Alan Rest In Peace and the Perpetual Light Shine Upon Him. Ron
