Allan William Darger passed away at Taylorsville, Utah, on March 7, 2024. He was born in Salt Lake City, Utah, on February 9, 1954, to David Brigham Darger and Beth McDaniel Darger. His mother died when he was just four years old. After her passing he was raised by her sister, Eliza Aldora Darger (affectionately called Lizey). She became a mother to Beth’s children and raised Allan and the younger children as her own.
Allan was preceded in death by his parents, Dave and Beth; Aldora (Lizey); his brothers Lynn, David, and Richard; and his sisters Janet Williams and Ann Kelsch. He is survived by his brothers, Ronald and Brigham, and sisters Dawn Boss and Kaylene Barlow; also, many extended family members; and his children and grandchildren.
On March 31, 1981, he married Crystal K. Kelsch, and together they had 10 beautiful children: Crystal Ellen (Jacob) Barlow, Joseph K. Darger, Allan William (Brittany) Darger Jr., Carolann Marcella Darger, April Melissa (Nathaniel) Ashby, Mauriona Nicole Darger (Eloy Losada), Joshua Michael (Brianna) Darger, Jeremy Matthew Darger, Kelly Kaylene Darger (Bryce Woodhead), Aubretia Lynne (Colton) Bailey. Allan was preceded in death by his son Joseph K. Darger.
Allan is also survived by his 26 grandchildren: (Crystal) Justin, Izabella, Jaysen, Adam, William, Elizabeth, Samuel, Elias, Hyrum, Liam, Crystal and Clarissa. (Allan Jr.) Allison and Charlotte. (April) Isaac. (Mauriona) Elia, Oliver and Tesni. (Joshua) Anorah, Annabell and Jamison. (Kelly) Sailux, Sutton and Seneca. (Aubretia) Oaklyn and Brooks.
Allan was loved and respected by many who adopted him as an inspirational or father figure. He was well known for his generosity and his love for others. He held the adoration of many extended family and friends whom he loved as deeply as he loved his own children. They often and affectionately referred to him as their “favorite Uncle Al”, an initially self-proclaimed title, much like an affirmation that easily grew into fact. Relationships were his highest value.
Allan was a student of life and often contemplated the beauties of God and his role in everything. He was hard working and fun loving. He was quick with a joke, creative by nature and an adventurer at heart, but his greatest enjoyment in life was his family. His children and grandchildren each had a deep and special relationship with him. Allan was a father, brother, teacher and friend in every aspect.
During his time with cancer, his children and their spouses along with countless family and friends, rallied together to offer support in every endeavor. He was surrounded by loved ones, including all of his children and their spouses at the time of his passing.
Allan wanted his services to be a happy occasion. Therefore, there will be a combined Viewing & Celebration of Life to be held on Friday, March 15, 2024 from 5 - 9 PM at Woodhaven Pointe.
