Obituary Photo for Anna Marie Whitlock

With profound sadness and so much love, we mourn the passing of our mom, Anna Marie Whitlock. She died peacefully on Wednesday afternoon, February 5th• 2025, at 83. Her daughters were there daily this past year as her body started to fail and her dementia increased. All of us were there as she took her last breath. She was preceded in death by her only son, her brother, and both parents.

Anna treasured her children, grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and other kids who found a home in her heart. She welcomed all who needed a place to stay. She treated everyone with love and kindness. Anna's faith in the Latter-Day Saints was strong, and she encouraged everyone to walk their own path to finding a connection to Christ.

Anna was a grandma to all. If you came into her home, you'd be welcomed with a warm hug, a cup of something hot, and probably a "silly" comment to make you smile. Her house was always lively, not just the people but the plants; she loved plants, flowers, and creating things. Her home wasn't just a home but a sanctuary. The saying, "You can always come home," has always applied to her.

She was blessed with six kids: five girls and one boy. Jenny, the oldest, was lovingly raised by her chosen family but always held a special place in Anna's heart. The two were reunited decades ago. Mary, the second daughter, is Anna's California sunshine girl. They lived in the Golden State for almost 10 years before they returned to Utah to be near family. Mary (Dee} later married and had three children of her own.

In the 1970s, Anna married Tevita Tuiono, a handsome Polynesian who added a fun shake-up to her small-town LDS roots. They built a life in Sandy, Utah, and had four children together before parting ways after 20 years. Each of her children brought their own unique flair to the family. Aisake, the free-spirited nomad, kept life interesting and had three daughters. Lilly J (Eddie}, affectionately known as "the mafia boss" (with a beauty queen side}, raised three boys. Chrissy (Nephi}, the unstoppable entrepreneur and caretaker, balanced business and family life while raising five boys and one treasured girl. The youngest, Betsy (Nick}, has the biggest heart but manages life's chaos with humor and efficiency and has three children. Anna spent nearly a decade babysitting these three kiddos.

Anna is survived by her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and close family, who will continue to honor her memory by laughing just a little louder, hugging a little longer, and living life with the same open heart she always did. We will miss her immensely.

Rest in peace, Mom. We will love you forever.

Guestbook/Condolences

It’s Valentine’s Day, and I want you to know how much I love you, Mom. I am forever grateful for all the love and kindness you shared with us. You taught us that there is beauty all around us, and if we look closely, we will always find it. That is the beautiful thing about the circle of life. Until we meet again.

After many years of working night shift together at AVH, learning from Anna how to knit the continental stitch, and enjoying each other's company outside of work, your mom still holds a very special place in my memories and in my heart. I am sad at her passing and happy that I had a slice of her time in her busy life. Goodbye my friend. Thanks for the wonderful memories.

I worked with Anna at Alta View Hospital when I was a pink lady. Anna was always so kind and welcoming. She was the first person I went to see when I clocked in. I have thought of her often and wish we could have connected again. I love this photo of her, this is how I remember her. My deepest condolences to her children and grandchildren.
