Annette (Childs) Cherrington, lovingly known as “Eeyore,” passed away unexpectedly at her home in Ogden, Utah, on July 26, 2025, at the age of 74.
Born on October 13, 1950, in Mt. Pleasant, Utah, Annette was the third child of Glenn E. and Fannie M. (Johnson) Childs. She grew up in Salt Lake City and graduated from Granite High School.
Annette first married Richard Q. Gunn, with whom she had four children. After their divorce, she settled in the Draper/Sandy area and raised her children as a single mother—a role she filled with strength, humor, and unconditional love. Years later, she married Glen B. Cherrington, her true love and the one who forever held her heart.
She devoted over 25 years of her life to South Valley Sewer, where she formed lifelong friendships—her beloved “Sewer Sisters.” Her work ethic and loyalty were unwavering, and her impact on her coworkers was lasting.
Family was the heart of Annette’s world. She cherished her children and grandchildren above all else—they were her pride, her joy, and her greatest accomplishment. She also found joy in sports, especially cheering for her Kansas City Chiefs, Minnesota Vikings, and Utah Utes. She was an avid golf fan and never missed a tournament when her “Rory” was playing. When she could, she loved playing the game herself.
Annette was also a talented crafter and seamstress. She poured her love into handmade wreaths, pajamas, baby blankets, and quilts, gifting her creations to family and friends. She was never far from her favorite little treats—mini-Oreo cookies, a good cup of coffee, and her beloved brown licorice. These simple joys were her comfort, and they’ll forever remind us of her sweet, familiar presence.
She leaves behind a legacy of laughter, love, and unshakable loyalty. Her presence was a light in so many lives, and her absence leaves a space that can never be filled.
Annette is survived by her children: Richard Gunn, Jennifer (Nicole) Gunn, Michael (Victoria) Gunn, and Paul (Sara) Gunn; her grandchildren: Tyler, Cameron, James, Stella, Syd, Henry, Sienna, Richie, Maizy, and Ragnar; her great-granddaughter, Kalilah; and her bonus daughters: Kammie Gunn and Brooke Marrelli. She is also survived by her sisters, Gayle Hatch and Pamela Pyne, and many extended family members and dear friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Glenn and Fannie, and her brother, Russ Childs.
“Eeyore,” you will never be forgotten. Our hearts are broken forever. And no—we will not be playing “Ding Dong the Witch is Dead,” no matter how many times you joked about it. You were loved beyond measure and will be remembered always for the wonderful, funny, and fiercely loyal person you were.
