1943 ~ 2025
Arthur Grant Casper, age 82, of Sandy, UT, died peacefully surrounded by family on August 6th, 2025. He was the loving husband to Luana Casper of 53 years.
Art was born July 3rd, 1943 to Arthur Lionel Casper and Bernice Grant. He graduated from Jordan High in Sandy, Utah in 1961 and eventually got a degree in Accounting from the University of Utah.
A faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saint, Art speaks fondly of his missionary service in Toronto Canada from 1962 until 1964. Art was a Traveling Elder who would travel around the mission to join different companionships and teach them how to be better missionaries. He remained a faithful member his whole life and later served in many capacities in the church, from Scout Master to temple worker.
He met Jana Elder while playing the piano for a Roadshow and they married in the Salt Lake Temple in 1965. They welcomed their children Emily (Schultz) and Terry, but were later divorced.
Art met Luana Belliston while doing a financial audit where Luana was a bookkeeper. He thought she was cute so he waved at her with his pinky finger and the rest is history. They were married on April 1, 1972. Through this marriage they had the rest of the children: Caroline (“CC”), Matthew, and Jared. Art and Luana were later sealed in the Jordan River Temple.
Art supported his young family by starting his own accounting practice during college and attending night classes to earn his degree in 1977. Art was always so generous and kind to his clients. When his clients couldn’t afford their bill, he would often take payments in kind; from TV sets to stock certificates, he found ways to work with the clients. This generosity extended beyond his work to his personal life where he was a good provider and generously helped many. He was good at cheering people up, often calling them on the phone when they needed a friend.
Art enjoyed spending time outdoors with his family. He would brag about the times he climbed the mountains around the Salt Lake Valley, his favorite being Lone Peak. Art enjoyed playing basketball, bowling, and golf. Art and Luana took their young family and travelled the country in their motorhome; Art could drive 16 hours straight! He also loved sharing his snowmobiles and his boat with his children.
Art was always very involved with his children and their activities; from coaching baseball, traveling to soccer tournaments, and camping with the scouts. He passed on his love of music to his children and loved to attend the theater, especially musicals, and would break out in song almost every day. Being self-employed provided him the freedom to always be present, except in April each year when he was doing tax returns and his family only saw him when they were pitching in to help meet the deadline! His children remember fondly the tradition of stuffing envelopes on April 15th and driving to the downtown post office in pajamas to make sure the tax returns were mailed out before midnight.
Art has loved every one of his 14 grandchildren and was so excited to learn he has a great-grandchild on the way. He was always so patient with his kids and grandkids, never raising his voice to any of them. The smile on his face while watching his grandchildren play would melt any heart.
Although he continued his accounting work his entire life, his later years were mostly spent traveling the world with Luana (their favored destination was Hawaii), attending the theater, visiting grandchildren, and reading voraciously. With his own sporting days behind him he also enjoyed attending BYU and Jazz games.
Art was preceded in death by his parents, his baby brother Corey, his sister Sandra, and his beloved grandson Landen who held a very special place in his heart. He is survived by his wife, Luana; his children Emily (Robert) Schultz, Terry Casper, CC Casper, Matthew (Aspen) Casper, and Jared (Colleen) Casper; 13 grandchildren; his brother Scott; and sisters Judene and Paula (Judene passed away 3 days after Art).
A Viewing will be held at the church building at 2400 E Alta Canyon Drive, Sandy UT 84093, Thursday, August 14, 2025 from 6:00pm to 8:00pm and Friday morning from 11:00am to 11:45am. Funeral services begin at 12:00pm at the church. Burial will follow at Larkin Sunset Gardens.

It is with a heavy heart that I send my congratulations to a wonderful, kind sensitive man on his graduation from this mortal existence I’m sure he entered those pearly gates with a flare and with joy, I was a classmate of Arties’ and enjoyed his endearing friendship. Sending love and prayers to his sweet wife and family that they will be consulted with the saviors, comforting arms.
I'm so sorry to hear of Art's passing. He was always so pleasant each time we met. I hope you will be comforted by the beautiful memories he left behind and the promise of being together again later on.
So sorry for your loss. Art was great. He and Luana always made me feel like family. He will be missed.
Oh gosh - my dad just reached out to me to let me know of Art's passing. It's been many years since I've seen Art or spoken to him and his wife, Luana, but I still remember how kind and generous he always was to me. I'll never forget when he and Luana offered me a part-time job when I really needed it at their accounting office when I was only 19, or the times I babysat their adorable kids. He's been such a wonderful friend to my dad (Don Hammond) for many years, and I know he will be deeply missed.
We're so grateful to Art & Luana for allowing us to come back into your lives, and being so accepting of us. The friendship and love you've extended to us truly reflects who you are.
We will always cherish the memories you've helped us create, and Art was such a great example of what Christ would want us to be.
Luana, we love you and hope that we can continue down this 'road of life' and stay in touch with you. You're in our prayers. May the Lord continue to bless you and keep you safe.
