Cheryl Fitzgerald-Alpuerto, 79, of Twin Falls, Idaho—formerly of Mililani, Hawaii —passed away peacefully on September 16, 2025. Cheryl’s radiant smile, indomitable spirit, and genuine warmth left a lasting impression on everyone she met. Her presence was a gift, and she will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all whose lives she touched.
Born on June 13, 1946, in Draper, Utah, Cheryl was the beloved daughter of Norman and Madolin Fitzgerald. As the second youngest in a large and loving family, Cheryl learned the values of resilience, kindness, and community early in life. She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers Norman, Barney, and Kim; and sisters Doris, Barbara, Betty Joan, Sandra, and Lin.
At the age of 22, Cheryl made the bold move to Hawaii, where she built a life and family with her husband of 25 years. Together, they raised five children: Brenda, Michelle, Aimee , Mark, and Scott. Cheryl’s children were the light of her life, and her devotion to them was unwavering.
She is survived by her daughters Brenda, Michelle, and Aimee (Rustin Beck); sons Mark (Amber) and Scott (Renee); and her cherished grandchildren: Grayson (Jessika) , Gage (Bella) , Brayden, Addisyn, Aislyn, Ethan, Axel, Kaden and Great Granddaughter Roslyn.
Cheryl was the type of person who lit up every room. Her generosity of spirit, laughter, and compassion created a legacy that will live on in the hearts of her family and all who knew her. Whether you were family, a friend, or a stranger, Cheryl made you feel seen and valued.
Her journey on earth may have come to a close, but the love she gave and the lives she touched endure. She will be remembered always, and missed deeply.
A graveside service will be held at 10:00 AM on Friday, September 19th at Larkin Sunset Gardens Cemetery (1950 East 10600 South, Sandy, UT).
