1962 ~ 2025
Christine Dixon McKay passed away peacefully on May 31, 2025, surrounded by her family. After bravely battling breast cancer and in remission, complications from chemotherapy ultimately took her life.
Born on October 9, 1962, in Salt Lake City, Utah, Chris attended East High School and Utah State University.
Chris lived a life of compassion, great knowledge, and quiet strength. Chris dedicated over 35 years to nursing. Known for her patience, expertise, and genuine empathy, she touched countless lives through her compassionate care. Her intelligence and steady presence made her a trusted caregiver and advocate for her patients, many of whom she supported through their most vulnerable moments.
She remained a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints throughout her life and served as a pianist in many callings.
Chris loved to read and could often be found with a good book in hand. She found joy in gardening, music, and laughter shared around a deck of cards—especially playing McKay Bridge and 5 Crowns with family. She held a special place in her heart for dogs and cats, cherishing the companionship and comfort they brought her.
In recent years, she faced her health battles quietly, with courageous strength. She survived breast cancer and endured the difficult aftermath of chemotherapy, remaining fiercely determined to stay with the people she loved for as long as she could.
Chris was a grandmother to 10 granddaughters. She was especially close to her granddaughter Emma, who lived nearby in Washington State, and held a special place in her heart.
Chris is survived by her five children: Debbie Reid (Brad), Jessie Arnold, Carrie Frampton (Rick), Nikkie Frampton (Marcus), and James Frampton. She is also survived by her siblings—three sisters: Becky Larkin (Lance), Cathy Brown (Don), and Kim McKay (Jared); and two brothers: Rick McKay (Lori) and Dave McKay (Mnemosyne).
She was preceded in death by her beloved father, Richard McKay, and loving mother, Vivian McKay.
The family wishes to extend their sincere gratitude to the staff at Legacy Salmon Creek Medical Center for their compassionate care and support during her brief stay.
In lieu of flowers, the family invites you to consider a donation to your local breast cancer research foundation.
My deepest condolences to my cousins! I can't imagine what you are going through right now with the sudden loss of your mom and grandma!
While I was on my mission in Brazil, Aunt Chris always consistently wrote me letters! I cherished these letters and always looked forward to them! They always gave me the pick me up I needed during difficult times. These little acts of kindness of just sending a letter had such a profound impact at needed times. Just another testament of the many ways Chris served countless individuals throughout her life!
May you find peace at this time knowing she's playing a hand of McKay Bridge on the other side!
I am so sorry for the loss of your mother. Chris was always incredibly kind to our family, and I’ll always remember how willing she was to help—especially when we had questions about my mom’s health. Her kindness and generosity left a lasting impression on all of us.
That same kindness lives on in each of you. You’ve always been willing to help others without hesitation, and I know that spirit comes from her.
Please know that we are here for you—whatever you need, whenever you need it.
With love and deepest sympathy,
Camey, Jody, and Chandy
