Colleen (Fielding) Watson passed away peacefully on May 4, 2025 surrounded by family.

She was born to Clifford M. Fielding and Mary Adell Hallam in Orem, Utah on 28 August 1931. Her childhood was an idyllic one. The backyard of her home in Orem adjoined the backyards of aunts and uncles so her young life was full of play with Fielding cousins. She idolized her brother Kent and was forever intrigued by her Brother Max’s mischievousness. These brothers grew up and married remarkable women, Dorothy (Kent) and Marie (Max) with whom Colleen shared a special relationship. Colleen was also very close to her cousin Beth Johnson who was more like a sister than a cousin.

Colleen graduated from Lincoln High School, later known as Orem High, in 1949. Following graduation from Lincoln High, she attended BYU pursuing a degree in accounting which, for a woman, was unprecedented at that time. If nothing else, Colleen was a trend setter and an example to the young women of her day! While pursuing her degree she met her future husband, David Watson, whom she affectionately called “Big Dave”, and her life was forever changed. They both became lifelong BYU fans who could sing the BYU school song acapella at a moments notice.

Colleen and Dave were married in October 1954, and welcomed two children, David McCrea in 1955 and Suzanne Ruth in 1959. Colleen was a fabulous mother, and her children loved her dearly!

She had a wonderful professional career, beginning with Litton Industries then moving to Evans & Sutherland. She ended a very fruitful career at the Bloomington Country Club. Many of the people she met in these positions became life-long friends.

Colleen was a dedicated member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. She lived her faith and always kept her testimony close to her heart.

Colleen loved to travel. She visited all 50 states and all of the Canadian Provinces. These journeys gave her a perspective on the world and people that informed every aspect of her life.

Colleen is survived by her daughter Suzanne Mart (Michael Sheehan); Daughter-in-Law Margo Watson (Jay D. Blades); her grandchildren: Derek Watson, M’Liindsey Romero (Matthew), Vanessa Halvorsen (Shane), Tabitha Campbell (Jake), Cody Mart (Kelly), Elliott Mart (Xiomara); and 10 cherished great-grandchildren; Sister-in-Law Dorothy Fielding (Kent); the broader Mart/Bentz family who always embraced her as one of their own; and four dear friends from St. George, Utah: Randy and Bert Milroy and sisters Mary and Fran Hatch; and finally, many of Suzanne’s friends who saw Colleen as their “bonus” mom. She was preceded in death by her husband Dave and dear son David, and kind-hearted Son-in-Law Gordon Mart, and her brothers Kent and Max (Marie) Fielding.

Colleen will be interred at the Oahu Cemetery in Honolulu, Hawai’I with her husband. At Colleen’s request a formal burial service is not planned.

Collen’s family would like to thank the staff at Valencia Assisted Living at Fort Union and Harmony Hospice for the wonderful care they provided.

After Colleen passed, her family and friends reminisced about her and the gifts she brought to their lives. She clearly had a long and wonderful life. While everyone had their own, unique and personal memory to share, one theme was repeated over and over. Everyone seemed to think that the most important gift Colleen brought to their lives was unconditional love. Unconditional love, what a fabulous legacy to leave those held nearest and dearest…
