Obituary Photo for Colleen Jarvis Knott < >

Colleen Jarvis Knott, age 92, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend returned peacefully to our Heavenly Father on November 13, 2022. She was born September 23, 1930 in South Jordan, Utah to Spencer Abraham and Blanche McMullin Jarvis. She married her sweetheart, Joseph LaMar Knott, in the Salt Lake Temple on May 2, 1949. She is survived by her daughter, Joleen Knott, sons Jeff Knott, Steve (Susie) Knott, Greg (Marti) Knott; 10 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, five brothers, three sisters-in-law and one brother-in-law.

Her family moved from South Jordan to Salt Lake City where she attended West High School where she played the piccolo and served as the historian of the first pep club at the school.

Colleen was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints where she served many callings in the ward and stake. One of her greatest joys was researching, writing, and compiling stories and photographs of her family history. She was very proud of her pioneer ancestors. She kept journals for several years and gifted most of them to each of her children and grandchildren.

She loved to read, and probably read every biography and history book in the library.

Colleen had many skills and talents. She was a gifted artist, planted beautiful flower gardens, filled our home with the smells of home baked bread, rolls and scones and sewed clothing for all her children as well as a full wardrobe for Joleen's Christmas doll every year. She was also a master quilter and hand sewed beautiful quilts for each of her children and grand-children. She prepared a beautiful Sunday dinner every week and served it on her best china for her family.

Colleen was a good friend to everyone in her ward, all her neighbors, and her beloved friends - especially the 9 couples in the ‘Stuffers Club’ where they gathered every month for over 60 years for dinners, games and annual camping trips with all their kids over the 24th of July.

Christmas and Thanksgiving were a big deal to LaMar & Colleen where they created and passed down special traditions, always surrounded by their family. Colleen was blessed to live a long enough life to know most of her great-grandchildren. She leaves us with many precious memories and will be greatly missed.

We wish to thank the nurses and CNAs at Cascades at Riverwalk and her Hospice Nurse for their loving care, as well as her dear neighbor, Anna Caputo, who always watched over her and LaMar at their home..

Friends and family are welcome on Tuesday, November 22 from 9am to 10:45am for a viewing at the Larkin Sunset Lawn Mortuary located at 2350 East 1300 South, Salt Lake City. A memorial service will follow at 11:00 am at the same location for all who wish to attend. Colleen will be laid to rest at the South Jordan Cemetery located at 10630 S.1055 West, South Jordan, UT.

For those wishing to join the funeral services via Zoom, please note that a free Zoom account is required to join the service.
