Richard Allen

1930 ~ 2019

Richard Allen passed away on January 28th 2019. He was born on December 28th, 1930 to Frieda Otto in Oakland, CA. He grew up in Santa Monica, CA where he graduated from Venice HS. He continued his education at Northrop Institute of Technology where he studied aeronautical engineering. Following school he worked in the aviation industry and then continued his education at Brigham Young University in business management. It was at BYU where he met his future wife, Phyllis Cutler, a lovely young woman from Cambridge Idaho. They were married on Dec. 18th, 1959 in the Idaho Falls Temple. Together they raised six children, primarily in Sandy Utah. Phyllis passed away in 2001.

After marriage, Rich started a new career working for the Bonham Corporation. He then moved on to work as the plant manager for Parker Hannifin Seals group in Salt Lake City and later as a general manager in Lake Charles, LA. Following retirement he dabbled in a few projects of his own and eventual co-owned Skyline Industries, makers of marine fuel tanks and trash dumpsters.

Rich was a kid at heart. He loved cars and western movies, enjoyed outdoor activities such as skiing, camping or snowmobiling in Idaho and trips to Lake Powell. These activities all made for wonderful family memories. He was always seen wearing a smile on his face and a baseball cap on his head. He loved to go to Costco on Saturdays and try out all the food samples.

Rich was a member of the LDS church. Phyllis and Rich have an eternal family that includes their six children, Brian, Cindy, Zoe, Elise, Liana and Richard and 18 grandchildren. He later married Margaret Ann \"Meg\" Guinn.

The family would like to express thanks to our many friends and the staff at The Sheridan for their compassionate care and concern.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 2nd at 11:00 AM at Larkin Sunset Gardens, 1950 E. Dimple Dell Rd. (10600 S.), Sandy. Friends are invited to greet the family at the viewing from 10:00 to 10:45 AM. Interment will be at Larkin Sunset Gardens Cemetery.

Rich was blessed in many ways so in lieu of flowers please donate to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints humanitarian fund or to the local Utah food bank to help those less fortunate.
