Daniel Wayne Cutler, husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away from natural causes on Tuesday, September 17, 2024 surrounded by his family. Daniel was born on January 16, 1937 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Harmon Reynolds Cutler and Lillian Martha Rice Cutler. Daniel was the oldest of four children.

Daniel’s father worked in the mining industry and the family lived in several different states, before eventually settling in Ogden, Utah. Daniel graduated from Ben Lomond High in 1955. In 1957, he was called to a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Canada Ontario mission field. Upon his return he started college at Utah State University. This is where he met his future wife, Sylvia Childs.

They were married in The Salt Lake Temple on June 9, 1961. This past June was their 63rd anniversary. Together they have 5 children: Holly Rae, Camille Gay (Scott), Lori Ann (Joe), Gregory Daniel (Maren) and Douglas Daniel (Holly).

Daniel attended college at both Utah State University and Brigham Young University where he obtained his Bachelor of Science Degree in 1962 and his Master of Education in 1966.

At this point in his life, he made the decision to pursue a career in the Church Education System as a seminary teacher. Daniel’s teaching career spanned 40 years and approximately 6,000 students. He taught at Evergreen Jr. High, Olympus High School, Skyline High School, Alta High School, Bingham High School and South Jordan Middle School. His tenure at Cottonwood High was in administration where he served as principal for 9 years. Daniel loved to teach the gospel. He has touched many lives. He held many positions in the church, which included Bishop, Temple Ordinance Worker, part-time Church Service missionary, and Stake Patriarch for 15 years.

Daniel had many hobbies that he enjoyed throughout his life. He was an avid reader, outdoorsmen and sports enthusiast. His family, serving others and yard work were his passions.

He was proceeded in death by his father, mother, two sisters, and a brother. Survivors include his wife, children, 13 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 11am on Monday, September 23, 2024 at the Patriot Ridge Ward, 4617 West Patriot Ridge Drive in Herriman, Utah. A viewing will take place prior to services beginning at 9:30am. Interment will follow at the Herriman City Cemetery.
