Darl Ann Frederickson Hilton, 87, of Draper, Utah, left this mortal life on September 9, 2024, after a courageous 5-year+ battle with Multiple Myeloma, a vicious and relentless bone-marrow cancer. Darl was born on March 11, 1937, to Paul Coulam Frederickson and Dorothy Darl Quayle Frederickson, in Salt Lake City, Utah. After graduating from East High School in 1955, she attended the University of Utah, where she affiliated with the Alpha Chi Omega Sorority and met her future husband, Reid Hilton. They were engaged in April 1956. Following Reid’s surprise two-and-a-half year call to serve in the French Mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, they were married in the Logan Temple on July 30, 1959. In the ensuing years, they welcomed six children into their family: Scott Reid Hilton (Lori), Heidi Hilton Zarbock (Brad), Angela Jane Fennemore, Heather Ann Hilton, Ronald Joseph Hilton (Nicole), and Jeremy Charles Hilton (Amber), 23 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren, and siblings: Ronald Quayle Frederickson (Jymme), Becky Lynn Frederickson Butcher (Craig), and Stephen Paul Frederickson (Wanda) and a host of loyal and devoted friends. Predeceased by her parents, a granddaughter, Makaela Bailey Hilton, a sister, Janis Frederickson, and her youngest child, Jeremy.

Darl was a beautiful, bright, fun, witty, and loyal person who was easy to love and cherish by everyone who knew her. Her wit was legendary, spontaneous, sometimes improper, but always well meaning. Her sparkling smile was alarmingly engaging and welcoming. People in distress most often left her presence feeling much better and loved. She worked in the medical field for many years and was a gifted medical transcriptionist and office manager.

She loved and had an unwavering testimony of her Savior. She selflessly served in several wards and stakes, fulfilling many important callings in the Church—mostly with the youth. Because of her faithful service, she became known, lovingly, as ‘Darl the Laurel Leader’. It was extremely important to her to build lasting relationships among these young charges and help them in any way possible. The world is a better place for her having been in it.

P.S. A huge thank you to Dr. Doug Sborov’s wonderful, competent, and caring staff at Huntsman Cancer Institute, and to the Huntsman at Home team – especially Trisha, who held our collective hand in Darl’s final days.

Services will be held on Saturday, September 14, at the Draper 6th Ward at 1272 East Walden Lane in Draper, UT. A viewing will take place from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM, followed by the funeral service at 2:00 PM. Interment will be at Larkin Sunset Gardens, 1950 E 10600 S, Sandy, UT. The funeral will be livestreamed via Zoom and can be accessed by clicking the "Watch Services" button above.

Guestbook/Condolences

Darl was a dear friend. She was always smiling and willing to go and do. We were just a few months apart and had many good times with her and Reid. Some of our children were the same age and were friends. We enjoyed living in the Mt. Olympus 4th ward and seeing them each week. She was a talented, dedicated and lovely member of the ward. I'm so sorry she suffered the last few years of her life.
