Listen to Obituary
David Ernest Anderson peacefully passed from this mortal life on May 20, 2025, due to complications related to frontotemporal dementia, which he battled courageously for five years. He was surrounded by his family at his passing.
David was born on April 14, 1960, in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. He was the beloved son of Gloria Martinez and the late Virgil Anderson. He is survived by his siblings: Lynn (Stan) Richins, Dean (Sasi) Anderson, Dan (Kim) Anderson, Corey (Pam) Anderson, and Sherri (Ty) Kehoe.
As a young man, his family moved from Calgary, Alberta, to the small farming community of Priddis. The family built fond memories working, living, and playing on their ranch. Family and friends enjoyed bonfires on the frozen creek, barn dances, horseback riding, and hosting unforgettable campouts and family reunions.
David lived a life of adventure, dedication, and love. Known for his boundless energy and compassionate heart, he poured his time into his family, friends, and many passions. He was a devoted husband to Marlyse, with whom he built a beautiful life and family.
He is lovingly remembered by his children: Levi (Sonnett) Anderson, Robynn (Josh) Soriano, Rose (Kevin) Fullmer, and Aaron (Madelaine) Anderson. His legacy continues through his 13 cherished grandchildren, each of whose lives was deeply enriched by his wisdom and warmth.
As a young adult, he started and successfully ran his own graphic design firm. Due to his experience and skills in art and marketing, he was recruited by a company in the United States, at which point he chose to sell his firm and move with his family to Utah. David brought the same dedication to his work that he brought to every aspect of his life.
An avid endurance athlete, he competed in numerous marathons and triathlons. He had a deep love for hockey—whether playing, cheering from the stands, or managing teams. He was also passionate about motorcycles and could often be found riding his Harley Davidson or carefully rebuilding them with precision and pride.
His faith and service were central to his life. At 19 years old, he served a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Bristol, England. He later served a three-year mission with Marlyse in the Addiction Recovery Program. He also spent many years serving as a Scoutmaster in the Young Men organization. Prior to his diagnosis, he found joy in serving as an ordinance worker in the Draper Utah Temple.
Despite his challenges with dementia, he remained positive, kind, loving, and to those who knew him well, a complete goofball. He had a childlike innocence and maintained his strong love for Jesus Christ. He loved to sing Primary songs, read the scriptures, and pray daily. Through everything, his love for his family endured—with his final words being, “I love you.”
He leaves behind a profound example of resilience, service, and devotion to family. Through life’s most difficult challenges, he remained a loving father and a devoted disciple of Jesus Christ. He will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
A memorial service will be held in his honor on May 24, 2025 (also his 29th wedding anniversary to his beloved “sweetheart”), at 11:00 a.m. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints stake center located at 13366 S 1300 E, Draper, UT 84020. There will be no viewing or graveside service at this time. The family has chosen to donate his body to the University of Utah Body Donor Program to further the research on dementia.
The funeral will be livestreamed via Zoom and can be accessed by clicking the "Watch Services" button above.

David was a great human. I enjoyed running with him and his enthusiasm for the product I best associate him with (DV) was inspiring. He also helped me with my own company's marketing awareness. He will be remembered fondly by me and my colleagues.
So sorry to hear of David's passing. I was married to his oldest cousin Kathi, for 33 years before her passing 20 years ago. I always enjoyed being around him when he was still in Calgary with his young family. He was a great man and will be missed by many, including those of us who are far away. Happy running in Heaven David!

I was truly heartbroken to hear about David’s passing. The memories we shared growing up together will forever be cherished—our laughter, our adventures, and the bond that time could never break. I remember nights in the A-frame on the Priddis farm and riding the 3-wheelers around. I remember going to prom with our dates and the medieval theme of the night. When I got off my mission, he was there. After marriage, he and my kids had great cookouts and many fun times with our families. I remember going to Tie Lake and having long, meaningful talks. It’s hard to find the words in moments like this. David was a dear friend, and I will miss him.
My thoughts and prayers go out to Marlyse, and I am here for you. May you find comfort in the love and support of those around you and strength in the beautiful memories that David has left behind.
Marlyse, I am sending you my love and support during this difficult time. May the unforgettable memories that you share live on forever. Take care.
We are so sorry to hear of David’s passing, out thoughts are with you,

I am sad to hear of Dave’s passing, he was truly a great man. I had the pleasure of working with Dave for many years. We had lots of great conversations and even more laughs. My thoughts are with his family and all who were fortunate enough to know Dave.
I can hear David's laugh so vividly. I'm so grateful for the friendship David and Marlyse shared with my parents, the adventures they shared and the endless laughter. I can't count how many evenings I said goodnight while a game of cards and friendly banter continued on for hours, or how many miles they must have put on their motorcycles over the years. What an incredibly lighthearted and fun loving soul. I'm grateful I get to have such fond memories, and know that many others feel the same.
My heart is with you and the family, Marlyse.
Marlyse, I am heartbroken for you and your family. I am so honoured to have met David when you both visited the Miramichi. Even though it was only the once I met him, that was long enough for me to feel David's warmth and kindness. So sorry for your loss.
Condolences Marlyse and family! David was such a beautiful soul, through and through. Happy Anniversary! Today's service was a beautiful tribute to his life and legacy.
My condolences to you and your family.
