Dawn Gray Johancsik, 51, of South Jordan, Utah, passed away tragically, and quickly due to a motorcycle accident on June 14, 2024, near Buffalo, Wyoming doing what she loved. She was born on July 22, 1972, in Panama City, Florida, to John Bruce Gray and Niki Dee Davis.

Dawn grew up in Flagstaff, Arizona, before becoming a proud "Cali girl" who loved the ocean and surfing. She is survived by her beloved husband, Tracy Lyle Johancsik, whom she married on December 13, 2014, in Clearfield, Utah. She loved to travel with her husband, especially on cruises and chasing eclipses. She is also survived by her children, Sammantha Dawn Gray and Nikilaus Alexandr Gray. Dawn was predeceased by her father, John Bruce Gray, her mother, Niki Dee Davis, and her grandmother, Catheryn Juran.

Dawn graduated from Kemper Military School and College on May 26, 1990, which prepared her for her dedicated service in the United States Air Force. She knew the importance of brotherhood and the importance of banding together with others who shared the same interests and dedication to mutual passions and causes.
She proudly served as a Captain in the United States Air Force during Operation Desert Storm as a combat surgical nurse and was also assigned to Area 51 for a time, where she developed a strong sense of duty and camaraderie.

Dawn started a career path working as a paralegal in family law and later becoming a certified mediator. She loved helping families navigate legal challenges and find peaceful resolutions. It's a role that requires dedication, legal expertise, and empathy.

Shortly after moving to Utah, Dawn joined the B.A.S.T.A.R.D.S Riding Club where she was able to share her love of riding with her husband Tracy. She gained a whole new brotherhood among her riding family within and outside of the Riding Club. Dawn played a pivotal role in the Annual Brass Balls Charity Ride, which raised funds for epilepsy and later Alzheimer's. She held several leadership positions within the club and commanded widespread respect throughout.

Dawn and her husband Tracy opened a CBD and health shop in Holladay UT, that she operated. The store was opened in 2020 just before the pandemic.

Dawn had a zest for life, and she had a deep love for animals, scrapbooking, Dowdle puzzles, riding motorcycles, art collecting, rock hounding and trains. Her favorite place to visit was Grand Cayman, where she made many cherished memories.

Guestbook/Condolences

Tracy and family,

We do not know each other. Happenstance and divine intervention has connected us forever through Dawn. My family and I were traveling to Cody, WY that fateful day. Someone flagged us down. Without hesitation, I ran to Dawn’s side. Armed with an ambu bag to help- I tried to help by giving Dawn air, working my medical training and praying for a miracle. Tracy.. I came to you and tried to address your injured shoulder, recognizing the shock and agonizing pain you were going through. We some how laughed together- the weight of the moment and unreal situation in front of us both unfathomable. I tried my hardest to save her. Through the chaos, the ambulance, the crew that showed up to help- eventually I stepped aside and left once she was in the ambulance. Walking back to my car… I knew that no matter what happened, Dawn would be forever now a part of me. A day has not gone by where I relive those moments. I think of her everyday. I couldn’t help but wait to learn more about her. Her life, her passion and her family. She was so much more than the situation I happened upon in those big horn mountains. My soul will forever remember her… and my heart goes out to you all as you navigate these days, weeks and months with her absence. My husband, three children and I have prayed for her, your family, those riding with you that day. Someday, I will meet her again. I will embrace her fully and tell her the impact she had on my life- brief but real. May peace be with you all and God rest her soul. We will forever be thinking of you and Dawn.
