Obituary

With love and gratitude for a beautifully-lived life, we announce the passing of DeAnne Colclough, who passed away peacefully on May 10, 2026, surrounded by family.

DeAnne was born on July 4, 1946, in Salt Lake City, Utah to Joseph Allen Colclough and Delores Fern Brewster. Throughout her life, DeAnne became known for the steady, selfless way she cared for others. She never married and had no children of her own, but her niece, nephews, friends, and associates would tell you that she loved and cared for her extended family as much as any person could.

For one side of her family, DeAnne became so much more than an aunt. During difficult seasons, including the illness and death of her youngest sister, she stepped into a role of providing comfort, stability, a listening ear, and love. For years she created a space in her small condo where her niece and nephews could go while her sister (their mother) dealt with a difficult illness. Weekend visits often meant movies from Blockbuster, Eggo waffles, conversation, and the undeniable feeling that they were always welcome.

DeAnne showed her love in quiet, gentle, unassuming ways. She gave her time and attention to the people who needed her in all walks of life. She volunteered more than 2,050 hours at the Intermountain Medical Center over a period of thirteen years and two months. She also volunteered as a tour guide at the LDS Conference Center for several years.

She is survived by her sister, Kathy Morgan, her eight nephews and one niece, and numerous grand-nephews and grand-nieces all of whom held a special place in DeAnne’s heart. DeAnne was preceded in death by her sister Pamela Joy Pace, her parents, and her brother Michael Allen Colclough.

DeAnne’s final moments reflected the faith and love that shaped her life. Surrounded by family, she passed away peacefully while a great-niece sang Savior, Redeemer of My Soul. Those who were present witnessed a sacred and tender moment that brought great comfort and will remain a cherished memory for everyone present.

While we certainly grieve her absence, we are grateful for the life she lived and for all the love she gave so willingly. Families and friendships are often shaped by the people who chose, day after day, to show up and love without reservation. DeAnne was one of those people.

A viewing will be held from 6:00 - 8:00 PM on Monday, May 18, 2026, at Larkin Sunset Gardens Mortuary, 1950 East 10600 South, Sandy, Utah 84092. A second brief viewing will be held on Tuesday, May 19, 2026, at 11:00 a.m., immediately preceding funeral services at 12:00 noon at the Jefferson Ward building, 67 West Clay Park Dr., Murray, UT 84107. Interment at Murray City Cemetery will follow the services.

DeAnne was my neighbor in the bld. across from mine. I could see her condo from my patio. She & I—& my dog—had many conversations on our walks. A kind, lovely lady. I had planted some flowers outside my gate that just never would survive. When I said this to DeAnne, she endearingly said: “you have to water them”. I will miss DeAnne. RIP memory eternal

I am a friend of DeAnne from the NIA class she and I attended at the Murray Senior Center.
She was such a nice person and we had some fun giggles when I would "dance" myself into her territory. I will miss her!

We knew Sister Colclough as being a member of our ward that volunteered at the Intermountain Medical Center as we do.
Mike accompanied the full-time missionaries on a visit to DeAnne's home. Mike was very touched by the depth of her testimony. Mike was impressed with DeAnne's efforts in keeping the gospel alive in her life. She went to great efforts to make sure she and her family studied the gospel together.

Deanne was my neighbor, upstairs, since 1999. I have missed her passing more than I can express! She was a great neighbor, friend, and traveling buddy. She is missed so very much. She has been freed from her earthly frailties. May she rest in Heavenly Peace!
In loving memory of a life well lived!
