Our beautiful wife, mom, grandma and great-grandma, completed her earthly work and returned home to her Heavenly Father and the loving arms of family members who were waiting for her, on the evening of January 31, 2025. She was surrounded by her four children, who had the sacred experience of loving her out of this life into the next.
She is survived by her true love and eternal companion, Thomas B Holdaway, her children Michael Holdaway (Angela), Sherrie Kinyon (Jerry), Kathy Stringham (Phil), Connie Hansen (Mike), 15 grandchilden, 24 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild.
Marilyn was born October 22, 1931, to Elsie Alice Rowsell and Joseph W Robinson, in Murray, Utah, at the home of her grandparents, William F Robinson and Ann Morris. Her parents divorced when she was young. She didn’t have much of a relationship with her father. She, her mother and her older sister, Verdean moved in with her grandparents, Alice Ann Cundick and Walter Rowsell. She always attributed her Grandparents for lovingly raising her and providing her a happy home.
Marilyn met Tom for the first time when in the 9th grade. Later when they attended Granite High they began to date. Marilyn graduated from South High School. They were married on August 24, 1949. One of her happiest days was when they were sealed for eternity in the Salt Lake Temple on February 21, 1969. They celebrated 75 years of marriage in August 2024 with a gathering of family and friends.
Marilyn was the perfect example of unconditional love. She was selfless, always putting others needs and wants before her own. Her priority was always her husband, her children and her grand- and great-grandchildren. It was so important to her that all her family felt loved and no one ever felt less than another. She is a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She loves her Savior and the gospel of Jesus Christ. Her service in the temple and as a temple worker in the Jordan River Temple brought her great joy. She had a beautiful alto voice and loved church hymns, and she enjoyed singing in the ward choir for many years. She served in several church callings. She spoke often of her calling as Relief Society President when she lived in the Murray-Holladay area. Even though it was out of her comfort zone It was her favorite calling. She had a sweet quiet nature and served the sisters of her ward with grace and love. Her service to others and her family was always sweet and quiet, never for recognition for herself. She found joy in the happiness of others. As her husband often says, “She was always a happy lady”.
She is preceded in death by her parents Elsie Alice Rowsell and Joseph W Robinson, grandparents Alice Ann Cundick and Walter Rowsell, and her older sister whom she dearly loved, Lila Verdean Rasmussen.

We are saddened by the news of Marilyn's passing! Marilyn and Tom are such kind folks! One memory we have is that our children made sure that they stopped at the Holdaway home on Halloween night to get a loaf of bread as their treat! Our children thought that was the best treat of the night!
Hugs,
Harv and Karen
