Obituary Photo for Ellis Ray Jensen

Events

Our beloved father and grandfather Ellis Ray Jensen was reunited with his adored wife on February 18, 2025.

Ellis was born to Niels Peter Jensen and Emma Sorensen Jensen on March 9, 1937. He graduated from North Sevier High School in 1955 and went to work for Kennecott Copper. He met “the most beautiful girl in Garfield”, Sharon Marie Coulson and, even though his friends told him he didn't have a chance, they married on February 17, 1958. They lived in Magna for 30 years, then moved to West Jordan.

Ellis worked hard to provide for his family. He delighted in camping, fishing, and vacations where he could drive on unfamiliar roads while listening to talk radio or making up stories with his children. He was particularly fond of Branson MO, and a cruise to Alaska. After retiring from Kennecott, he worked at the Mervyn’s Distribution Center.

Ellis was an excellent husband and father. He was never too busy to help with math homework, Valentine boxes, sprinkling systems, and remodeling. He and Sharon were caregivers for their mothers for many years. He firmly believed you could do anything if you read the instruction and were willing to try.

Ellis is survived by his daughter Shelly, grand children Jeremy (Jessica) and Shyanne, great-grandchildren Emmett and Jerica, his brother in law James (Jim) Coulson, and many nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by his wife Sharon, his son David, his brothers and sisters-in-law Ralph (Noreen) Olsen, James (Carol) Olsen, Lee (Janice) Jensen and Arlene Coulson.

A graveside service will be held March 1, 2025, at 1:00 PM at Larkin Sunset Gardens, 1950 East Dimple Dell Road (10600 South).
