Eva Rigmor Hansen, age 96, died peacefully in her sleep March 11, 2022, at her home in Sandy, Utah of causes incident to age. Eva was a happy, kind, and loving daughter, sister, aunt and friend. She brought joy into the lives of all who knew her.

She was born May 5, 1925, in Salt Lake City, Utah to Danish immigrant parents, Holger Peter Vilhelm Hansen and Anna Hippolyta Eilersen Hansen.

Eva loved life and chose to be happy. She was raised on N street in the beautiful Avenues of Salt Lake City and graduated from East High School. She was the 6th child of 11 children. She embraced the challenges of life with cheer and enjoyed the opportunities of her journey in life. Eva was physically active and enjoyed playing tennis. She also loved to sing popular forties tunes while doing chores in her youth and throughout her life. During World War II, she and her sisters would take a bus to Wendover to dance with American soldiers to brighten their day.

A devoted member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Eva served a full-time Spanish speaking mission in Texas and New Mexico. She was endowed in the temple, served in many church callings and loved working with the youth. Her favorite calling was teaching the Gospel Doctrine class. She loved the Lord and felt peace when singing the hymn, “I Stand all Amazed”.

Eva was loved and cherished and had many friends. She was humble, lived a modest life and had a wonderful listening ear. Throughout her life she demonstrated charity–the pure love of Christ to others. She was very generous in sharing her time and means to others in need. Eva truly scattered sunshine to everyone she knew.

She enjoyed successful careers and worked in Salt Lake City as a telephone operator supervisor, in San Francisco as executive secretary to the President of Bethlehem Steel; the company that produced the steel for the Golden Gate Bridge. She also worked for many years in the Human Resources department of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

She is survived by two brothers and their spouses, Richard Arnold and Mary Hansen, Las Vegas, NV, and Robert David and Maryan Hansen, Mesa, AZ; sister-in-law Dolores Hansen, Draper, UT and brother-inlaw Marv Roper, Windsor, CO, as well as many nieces and nephews.

Eva is my aunt. Some of my fondest memories as a child are with her. If those memories Christmas is my favorite. She and my grandma (her mom) would come and spend the day. She was always so nice and fun to be around. Love you Aunt Eva.

Eve was an amazing lady! I had the privilege of working with her many years ago and was there to celebrate with her when she retired from Church employment!. Eve was a wonderful confidant and a cherished friend. She could always make me laugh and had a great sense of humor! She continually encouraged me to do and be my best and helped me in that effort. How I loved her! Sending my condolences and love to her beautiful family! Love, Pat Fought

She was an amazing Aunt who supported her many nieces and nephews in all they did. Christmas with her and my Grandma were my best mementoes of her. As well as her fruitcake and other fun treats she made during the holidays. She was always so giving in all that she did. I was blessed to be able to call her my Aunt.

I'll always remember your letters with the beautiful handwriting you sent to me when I was a young girl. I had mom read them to me because your writing was too fancy for me to decipher.

Aunt Eva/Eve,
You have been such a special Aunt to me and so many nieces and nephews! And just like them,, you always made me feel loved and special, and like I was your favorite. I have so many fond memories of times spent with you. You looking after some of us while my mom was having the triplets. Christmases with you and Grandma Anna Hansen, many fun times in your home, you going through the Salt Lake Temple with me my first time, going to lunch with you at the lion house when you worked at the church office building, just to name a few.
I loved your sense of humor and jokes and the brain teaser games and puzzles you always had around for us to try.
You always listened so intently when we talked. I loved how you always said “isn’t that interesting!”
For your entire life you were an amazing example of love and service.
While I will truly miss you, I know it was your time to “pass on” to the other side. I know it was a wonderful reunion with your parents, sisters, brothers and so many loved ones!
Please put in a good word for all of us, especially me, with the Big Guy! ;0)
Love You!

I already missed Aunt Eve even before her passing. Eve was such a joy and an absolute gift in my entire family's life. The years that my parents helped her were full of so many memories it's not even possible to share them all. Eve had a gift that most of us don't, and if we do, we have such a limited capacity of it. She had the gift of genuine care and compassion. No matter what, if you meant anything at all to her she always wanted the best for you and yours. My fondest memories of Eve all meld together, but I have to say you could always count on her engaging in meaningful conversations and would always celebrate or grieve with you. If you or your family were going through hard times she would also have the most helpful advice to encourage anyone to never give up. To those who shared a bond with Eve as strong, true, genuine, and authentic as the one me, my parents Jane and Darron, and my sister Isabella did then you already know how missed she is going to be in this world. You also know that you're going to have the best memories ever to reflect on. Keep sharing those stories. Aunt Eve may be gone, but her life was so full and it deserves to be shared with anyone willing to listen.
Love you Aunt Eve. I know we hadn't seen each other for many years, but even in passing I know we both cared about how one another was doing. Thank you for everything you ever did for me and my family. We all love you so so much!
