Eva Colleen Manning Kunz, 92, of Bountiful and Farmington, UT passed away peacefully July 23, 2024, in Hillsboro, Oregon.

Colleen was born June 12, 1932, in Cove (Richmond), UT to Sophia “Grace” Biggs Oliverson (Hodges) and Frank Manning. She was the eldest daughter of 3 born to them. She had 2 older half-brothers and 1 older half-sister.

Colleen attended West High School and LDS Business College in SLC, UT. She met her husband, Roger Kunz, at the age of 14. They married in SLC on September 1, 1950, divorcing on November 30, 1978. They have 6 daughters, Stephanie, Marilynn, Susan, Shari, Kammee, and
Lori.

Being the eldest daughter after her half-sister’s passing at age 14, Colleen often took charge of chores and housekeeping duties as her mother worked 2 jobs while caring for Colleen’s disabled grandmother.

Shortly after their wedding, Roger was drafted into the army. They briefly lived in Salinas, CA until Roger was shipped to Wiesbaden, Germany during the Korean Conflict. Colleen, then pregnant, moved back into her mother’s home until he returned.

Colleen worked at KUTV Channel 2 on Social Hall Avenue in SLC when television was new, typing programming logs. She later worked in the real estate and life insurance industries (Producers Life/Western Bankers, Doxey-Layton Realty, Northwestern Mutual Life, Jacobsen Investments) as bookkeeper and office manager. She dreamt from early childhood of working in an office and she enjoyed working at a time when most mothers were housewives. She later worked at National Product Sales “NPS.”

She always reached for the stars becoming an accomplished professional woman – quite an achievement given her very humble beginnings during The Great Depression. She had an exemplary sense of style both in her tasteful dress as well as her home’s décor.

Colleen had many friends and acquaintances and was renowned for her thoughtful and appreciative personal notes and cards. She wasn’t afraid to try new things such as belly dancing for exercise. Colleen learned to take her own lead socially after being married to a life-of-the-
party man for 28+ years.

She is survived by her daughters, Colleen Stephanie K Spangler (Bruce Rogol), Marilynn “Maggi” K Jones (Wayne), Susan K Barton, Shari Ann Kunz, Kammee K Lewis, Lori Jeanine K Coleman, 13 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren along with many nieces and nephews.

Colleen was preceded in death by her parents, Frank Manning and Sophia “Grace” Biggs Oliverson (Hodges) (Manning) Chapel; her elder half-brothers Max Cornell Manning and Ivan “Jack” Hodges, Jr., her elder half-sister, Ruth Irene Manning and her younger sisters Marilyn Jean M Zachreson and Barbara Darleen M Clark; and her ex-husband Roger Kunz.

A funeral service will be held Sat, August 10, 2024, at 2 PM. The family will gather beforehand at 1PM. A viewing will be held the night before on Fri, August 9, 2024, from 6 PM to 8 PM. All services and her interment will be held at Larkin Sunset Gardens, 1950 E Dimple Dell Road
(10600 S), Sandy, UT.

Didn't get a chance to meet this lady but I wanted to send my deepest sympathies to Lori& her entire family. From what I've seen, she must have done a solid job raising her daughters, as Lori has turned out to be a loving mom& partner. My beautiful Lori, our thoughts& prayers are with you through this trying time. Love, Kirk
