Our dear loving son, husband, father, grandfather, brother and doctor passed away peacefully Sunday, February 7, 2016 of complications due to colon cancer surrounded by his loved ones. He was born the eldest child to DeVere Jerome Taggart and Myrtle Faye Hodges in Logan Utah.

Dennis's desire to become a doctor began at age 13. He received his bachelor's degree from Utah State University in three years. Dennis married Karen Miller in the Logan Temple on June 29, 1960 thereafter moving to Washington D.C. where he had already completed his freshman year at George Washington University. After receiving his MD they moved to St. Louis, Missouri where he completed his internship and first year residency. His second year residency was in Albuquerque, N.M. which was interrupted by the draft which sent him to Viet Nam. Upon return, his family moved back to St. Louis where he became a Board Certified Internist. Dennis continued studying there at Barnes Hospital and became a Nephrologist.

In 1971 Dennis and his family moved to Salt Lake City, Utah where he began practicing Internal Medicine at the Holy Cross Hospital. During 1988-1989 he was President of the Medical Staff. Dennis was in practice for over 38 years. After six months of retirement he worked for Social Security until his most recent illness.
