Frances (Fran) Rebecca McLeod Hardwick, died of natural causes, on April 9, 2024. She was 98 and lived a long happy, fulfilled, and intentional life. She was married to our father, Kenneth Wayne Hardwick, for almost 50 years. Together they raised three children, James, Hilary (Anne), and Ken W., Jr. They traveled the world playing golf with friends and family and had many wonderful adventures together. She spent her 80th birthday, on safari in Africa with her children and grandchildren. Fran was also a passionate gardener and avid reader. Her fabulous rose garden was her sanctuary of peace and joy, and books provided her with vicarious adventures of her own. She had a tremendous sense of humor and was well versed about history, literature, gardening, and multitude of other topics. She will be missed and remembered by all who knew her.
Fran was committed to her family and she and her sister, Elizabeth Lauchnor-Cooksie-White (deceased) keep us all connected through over 50 years of McLeod Clan family reunions. She is preceded in death by her parents James Nelson and Florence Maus McLeod, her husband Kenneth, her sister Elizabeth (Lee), her nephew David Lauchnor, and her grand-nephew Joseph McDowell. She is survived by her children James Andrew, Kenneth Wayne Jr and his wife Maria and grand-daughter Jennifer all from Salt Lake City and daughter Hilary Anne from Anchorage Alaska; her grand-son Matthew and wife Olivia and two great grandchildren Amelia and Teddy from Oakridge Tennessee; her grandson Benjamin from Arizona; her niece Kathleen Lauchnor McDowell and grandniece Courtney and husband Jim Dorr and great grandnephews Ethan and Jaxson from Arvada Colorado; her niece Emily Lauchnor and grandniece Libba and husband Andy and great grandniece and nephew Preston and Skyla from Stevensville Montana and grandnephew Davy Lauchnor and wife Ellen and grandniece Avalyn from Boseman Montana.
The family would like to express our deepest gratitude to her fabulous and compassionate caregivers at Sunrise Senior Living and to the wonderful caring help given by Inspiration Hospice both of Salt Lake City Utah. If desired, friends may make a memorial contribution to their favorite charity in Fran’s name. At Fran’s request, no services will be conducted, and her ashes will be spread across all the places she loved and enjoyed.
