1943 ~ 2025
Frederick James Schuman
10/15/1943 - 10/8/2025
Born in Akron, Ohio
Frederick was the cherished son of Viola Huntsman Schuman and Paul Dalco Schuman. He was the middle son of three boys. Brothers, Ronald and Dalco. He married Nancy Lee Gamingasco on September 30, 1968, and together they shared 57 wonderful years. Nancy was always his girl.
He was devoted to his four beloved daughters: Margo (Lecia), Nicole, Pilar (Marc), and Tiffini (Jason) who meant everything to him. Fred’s love extended deeply to his grandchildren: Dominique (Andrew) and Kip, as well as his “bonus” grandchildren: Madie, Nikki, Jake, Carson, and Raven. He also treasured his great-granddaughters, Evelyn and Charlotte.
Fred served as a soldier in the U.S. Army Reserves. A passionate traveler, he made friends wherever he went. As President of the Salt Lake Motorcycle Club, he enjoyed all things with engines—motorcycles, cars, and anything related to the auto industry. He was a die-hard Utes Football fan who held season tickets since 2007. He also cheered enthusiastically for the Denver Broncos, even witnessing one of their Super Bowl wins.
Fred loved classic Western films. His favorite cowboy was John Wayne. He was a master landscaper, creating beautiful homes and gardens for his family and friends to enjoy. Known for his sense of humor, he always offered a compliment and delighted in being a proud “girl dad.” He was overjoyed when a grandson finally arrived to carry on the Schuman name.
Sensitive, thoughtful, kind, friendly, hardworking, and devoted to his family, Fred was truly one of a kind. His absence will be felt deeply by all who knew and loved him.
Graveside services will be held for “The Bear” on Friday, October 17, 2025, at 11:30am at the West Jordan City Cemetery 7925 S. 1300 W. West Jordan, Utah 84088.

Love to all!
We will miss Fred so much. He was an awesome President for our Salt Lake Motorcycle Club. I really enjoyed riding with him. His stories had us all laughing. Our group rides he watched out for each one of us. Pretty cool motorcycle he rode too. Sorry for your loss, hope we all get to see him again.
Pilar and Family,
Truly sorry for your loss. I did not know your Dad but your smile is his and surely his bright view on life. Prayers to you and your family at this time!
I love you daddy and will forever miss you. P
Dear Schuman family,
We're sorry for the loss of Fred. He was a fun man to talk to, and we'll miss his humor and charisma. He was always surrounded by friends in the dining area, and said hi to us all with enthusiasm. We'll miss him. Love, The LDS Hillside Branch Leadership at The Abbington.
