Listen to Obituary

Garrett B Kelsch, born February 2nd, 1974 in Murray, UT, passed away on December 9th, 2025 in Draper, UT at 51 years old. He was the son of Gary M Kelsch and Linda B Kelsch.

Garrett was a force of life from the very beginning. As a child, he was always in motion—busy, curious, and usually leading the adventure. He was a natural ringleader. The one others followed, not because he demanded it, but because his spirit invited it.

He loved making new friends and had a gift for connecting with people. Funny and fearless, he could walk into unfamiliar territory—places, ideas, and relationships—with confidence and heart. He was fervently loving and tender-hearted at his core, especially when it came to his family. Garrett carried a rare creative spark, most evident in the music he wrote. His songs were pieces of his heart—each one reflecting a moment, a memory, or a truth he wished to share. His musical legacy will continue telling his story long after his passing.

Garrett is survived by his wife, Janeth Djendji Kelsch, son, Garrett Chief Kelsch (Alexis Kelsch), and daughters, Autumn Kelsch (Doug Cox), Megan Barlow (Kurt Barlow), Mercedes Barlow (Brigham Barlow), Sapphire Jensen (Chandler Jensen), Aysia Morris (McCall Morris), Ariel Denos (Joshua Denos), Adaar Kelsch, Emberlyn Kelsch, stepsons, Jorge Bermudez, and Elias Bermudez, 11 grandchildren, his mother Linda B Kelsch, and 26 siblings. Garrett is preceded in death by his father, Gary M Kelsch, and 9 siblings.

Those who knew Garrett knew his laughter was his signature, his presence was embracing, and his intensity for living and adventure was extraordinary. He felt deeply, loved fiercely, and left an imprint that will not fade. He is remembered with love and pride by his children, family, and all who were touched by his journey.

Funeral services will be held beginning at 2pm on Sunday, December 14, 2025 at Larkin Sunset Gardens Mortuary, 1950 east Dimple Dell Road in Sandy.

Out of love and care for our family, we kindly ask that anyone who is feeling unwell or has been recently exposed to illness, please refrain from attending services in person. Rest in paradise uncle Garrett, I have more than a few memories with you that turned into unforgettable and positive learning experiences. You had an energy and charisma that will live on forever through those you knew. Thank you for all the lessons, memories and hooky bobbing rides we use to ask for as kids. You will be missed but never forgotten.

Garret was more than a brother-in-law to me – he was like a brother, and every time he showed up, the room felt brighter, full of love, acceptance, and zero judgment. He was always willing to do anything for anyone and never hesitated to go out of his way to help. My heart goes out to his wife and children. May his Legend status be imprinted in the book of life. He will be missed but not forgotten.

I met the love of my life 30 years ago when she lived next to Garrett in Salem. I remember staying at his house vaguely and we actually met a little as kids. Courtney popped up on my fb and her picture hit me like lightning and when we hung out for the 1st time she said" your a Kelsch "? And then told me how she knew Garrett and his kids. I believe that he helped us find each other and was one of my best friends.
