George peacefully passed away at the age of 90, due to congestive heart failure. He was born to Eugene and Mable Warner and grew up in Salt Lake City, surrounded by his large Italian family. On July 12, 1952, he married the love of his life, Marlene Wood.
For 45 years, George worked for Robert Taylor and Sons. After retiring, he continued the work he loved as a master mechanic from his home garage , where he repaired all kinds of machines for many painters in the Salt Lake Valley. His business grew through word-of-mouth advertising. Five months ago, he put away his tools when he could no longer walk to his garage.
George was an avid golfer who competed in the Huntsman Senior Games for 20 years. He won five gold medals, three silver medals, and one bronze medal. He loved the outdoors and the challenge of golf.
He is survived by his wife Marlene ; his daughter Sandy [Rex] Hansen ; his son Scott [Gayle] Warner ; his sister Judy [David] Pentelute ; his sisters-in-law Faye Warner and Dianne Warner; 8 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and 5 great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Kenneth (Sonny) and Ralph, and his sister, Marlene Warner Arguello, and a grandson, Steven Warner.
Services will be held on Tuesday, September 2nd, at Larkin Sunset Gardens located at 1950 E Dimple Dell Rd. A viewing will begin at 10 AM, followed by the service at 11 AM and an interment to follow.
