It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of our loving and wonderful Wife, Mother, Grandma, Great Grandma, Sister, Aunt, and Best Friend Geraldine (Geri) Akers Dean, Age 77, who departed this life on May 31, 2025.
She was born on December 6, 1947, in Salt Lake City to Jerrold J. Jones and Myrl Covert Jones. She grew up in Cottonwood Heights where she attended Hillcrest High School. She dedicated 22 years to Ultradent, working as a supervisor in quality control.
Geri met the love of her life, Jack Akers, and they married on November 30, 1968. They shared 24 wonderful years together before his health took him far too soon. During those 24 years, they raised two children, their son Russell and daughter Shana, who were her Mother's heart and soul.
Two years later, she met and married Fenton Dean on August 26, 1994, and they shared their life happily together for 21 years before his health took him.
She had many passions in her life, including horses and watching her daughter Shana and her nieces in High School Rodeo, as well as watching her son Russell play football. She loved camping, fishing, and riding four-wheelers, but nothing brought her more joy than her family, especially her grandkids and great-grandkids.
Her family is forever grateful for every moment we got to share with her in this life.
Geri is survived by her daughter Shana Hickman (Blake); daughter-in-law Tiffany Burks (Dave); son Russell Akers; her grandchildren Nicole Hickman-Thorup (Justin), Cody Hickman (Katelyn), Alycia Crook (Zech), Ashley Akers, Logan Akers; great-grandkids, Ryker Hickman, Brantley Hickman, Dean Thorup, Haylei Thorup, Walker Hickman, Wrenley Hickman, Makenna Akers, Savannah Crook, Easton Crook, Chance Akers, Addyson Weiss, Colton Weiss; older brother Dennis Jones; younger sister Julie Cummings; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank all the great and loving care she received from Solstice Home Health Care and also a special thanks to the guys at the Tribal House for all the love, help, and special care they each gave to Geri.
A graveside service for Geri will be held at Larkin Sunset Gardens, located at 1950 East 10600 South, Sandy, Utah 84092, on Tuesday, June 10, at 11:00 AM. We will celebrate her life and lay her to rest with love, gratitude, and the dignity she so greatly deserves.
