Listen to Obituary

Gloria Green Kimber (90) beloved wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, aunt, sister, and friend passed away peacefully in the early morning hours on May 26, 2025, in West Valley City, Utah.

Gloria was born on December 3, 1934, to Leonard Howard Green and Birdie Lenora Cummings Green in American Fork, Utah.

Gloria had a gentle heart and was never one who needed to be in the spotlight. She always had a listening ear and was remarkably kind, and caring to those around her. Although she struggled with many health challenges in her later years, she never complained. Gloria will be truly missed.

From an early age, Gloria learned to work hard by helping her sisters and parents as they raised turkeys for the family business and she did many other chores around the house, always willing to help.

Gloria Graduated from American Fork High and quickly followed that up with a Bachelor’s Degree in Education from Brigham Young University. Upon graduating from BYU, Gloria began teaching second grade in Tooele, Utah. After she raised her children, Gloria became a substitute teacher for many years.

In 1960 Gloria was set up on a blind date with William Dean Kimber, by her cousin. After a short courtship, Gloria and Dean were married in the Salt Lake LDS Temple on December 8, 1960. Gloria stopped teaching to raise four wonderful children: Barbara (Jeff) Glanville, Kathryn (Steve) Golsan, William Dean, Jr (Kenna) Kimber, and Inez Kimber.

Gloria spent many years as a volunteer in youth sports, from being a scorekeeper to selling snacks and lots of other things in between.

Gloria was a lifelong member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and enjoyed serving in many callings including the nursery and the library. In 1997, she had the opportunity to serve a mission with her husband at the Family History Library.

Gloria loved to spend time with family and going on trips to Yellowstone and Disneyland were a highlight for her. She also enjoyed reading, listening to music, eating delicious treats, and was a beautiful piano player.

Gloria is survived by her loving children, 8 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren, and her sister Annette. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, and her sisters Joyce and Geraldine.

Funeral services will be at Larkin Sunset Lawn 2350 E. 1300 S., Salt Lake City, UT on: Saturday, June 7, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. with a viewing one hour prior to the funeral at the same location. Entombment: Larkin Sunset Lawn.
