Howard Herman Miller passed away on Monday, July 15, 2024 surrounded by his loving family. Howard was born on October 14, 1959 to Herman Miller Jr. and Christina Sparreboom Miller in Malad Idaho. Growing up in Malad offered many country adventures for him and his 7 siblings. During high school, Howard met the love of his life, Zina Head. Howard and Zina married on January 20, 1978. Over their 46 years of marriage, Howard and Zina shared many happy years raising their 5 children who gave them 15 beautiful grandchildren who loved “Papa”.
During Howard’s youth, he had the unfortunate experience of losing his father at the age of 16. Howard remembered his father’s last words, “I wish I had more vacations with my family”. Howard took that to heart and made a commitment to always make time for family vacations. After graduating from High School, Howard began to work at his grandfather’s business, Burton Place Dairy. Howard’s strong work ethic and friendly personality helped his career grow from being a delivery driver for Meadow Gold Dairy to a general manager at Creamland Dairy. His career took him and his family from Utah to Montana, and then to New Mexico. During his career, he was able to refine his golf game, which was an activity that he loved to do frequently up to his passing. Howard made vacations a priority by spending time as a family in beautiful places like Swan Lake, Montana to the serene mountains of Utah. In 2013, Howard retired from a successful career in the dairy business to be closer to his children and grandchildren. He enjoyed his retirement by watching his grandchildren in their various activities from track and cross country meets, mountain bike races, football and basketball games, dance recitals, school plays, and concert productions. Howard also loved to travel and spend time with his beautiful wife. Together, they have many fond memories of spending time traveling and vacationing with friends and family. During the cold winter months, Howard and Zina enjoyed being snowbirds by traveling to Arizona to spend time with close friends, and of course, enjoy the favorable golf weather. Howard loved to laugh and spend time with people. He was kind, loving, honest, and a joy to be around. Even up to the time of his passing, he was still making other people laugh.
Howard’s family is his greatest prize and accomplishment in this life. He had the pleasure to spend 46 years of marriage to Zina, who was his greatest friend and companion. He loved each of his children and is very proud of their successes and families. He embraced being “Papa” to 15 grandchildren that kept him and Grandma very busy. He deeply loved and cared for his family. His big hugs and smile will be sorely missed. Howard was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and had the privilege to serve many people through various callings during his life. He has a strong testimony and love for Jesus Christ and Heavenly Father's plan.
Howard is survived by his loving eternal companion, Zina Miller, who was constantly by his side throughout his life, his children Anaika Hoenes (Corbin), Shereece McCurdy (Nathan), Joshua Miller, Kaleb Miller (Tanya), Brandon Miller (Mallory), and 15 grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Peter and Steven.
Services to celebrate Howard’s life will be on Monday, July 22, 2024 at 11am at the LDS Chapel located on 14242 South Loumis Parkway, Bluffdale, UT 84065. A viewing will be held at the same chapel on Sunday, July 21, 2024 from 6pm to 8pm and Monday, July 22nd from 9:30am to 10:30am.
