Obituary Photo for Ian Rudolf Anzer

Ian Rudolf Anzer passed away on December 1, 2023 in Sandy, Utah. Ian, or E as he was affectionately called by his brothers, was born on July 31, 1978 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Joachim and Wendy Anzer as the second of six boys and will forever be remembered as a big brother with a big heart.

Ian loved his family and had a very special bond with his mother. In his adult years, they had many long talks about family and children and friends. He was always good for an easy laugh or heartfelt cry. He was a dedicated son who was always there for his mom and brothers, always wanting to be there to help. We will miss his jokes and laughter and most of all, his love and hugs of the best kind. He cared so deeply and worried about his mother and family all the time.

As a child, Ian enjoyed many family trips to California where he spent time at the ocean and probably took some unnecessary risks a time or two. Growing up, there were plenty of pranks and mischief but Ian was fiercely defensive of his family and although he may have antagonized his siblings from time to time, he would not let others mistreat them. Ian was passionate and his heart was always in the right place. He made friends quickly and easily and was loved by many.

Ian had an adventurous soul. He loved riding Fatcats and 4-wheelers at his grandparent’s cottage, and always considered them and their home as a safe place. He also enjoyed boxing with his brothers and his sons and teaching them to never let their guard down, no matter the opponent or challenge.

He was spiritually connected with nature and loved all animals. Throughout the years, he had a variety of pets including snakes, iguanas and other reptiles, tarantulas, guinea pigs and dogs. As an adult, he adopted his best buddy, Tough Guy, and then his loyal companion, Kibbles.
Ian is survived by his sons, Caleb and Adam Anzer; his parents, Joachim Anzer and Wendy Ahlgren; his brothers, Anthony (Chelsea), Thomas, Nicholas (Mary), Nathan (Alexis), and Curtis; additional blended family members, Jodi Anzer, Amber Erickson, Brent Erickson, Rochelle (Dave) Cox, and many nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles.

Ian is preceded in death by his grandparents, Frank and Pat Child, and Theresia Anzer.

Services will be held on Saturday, December 9 at Larkin Mortuary, 260 E South Temple, Salt Lake City, Utah at 2pm or by zoom at https://us02web.zoom.us/j/89917286964. Interment services to follow. A visitation will be held from 12:30-1:30pm at the mortuary prior to the services.
