1928 ~ 2025
Jack J Gifford passed away on September 15th, 2025, at the age of 97. Jack was a longtime resident of Holladay, Utah.
Jack served proudly in the US Army where he was deployed during the Korean War. During his service he became a prisoner of war for 2 years. Upon returning home Jack received his PhD at UCLA where he began his teaching career. He later moved to Westminster College where he taught for over 20 years. He loved traveling, reading, and his dogs. He was also a long-time member of Cottonwood Presbyterian Church.
Jack is survived by his wife of 46 years Jan, his beloved daughters Kate and Laura (Josh), and the grandchildren he adored, Luke and Abigail. He is also survived by his nephew Grant Gifford.
He is preceded in death by his parents JD and Zuma Gifford and niece Tracey Gifford.
A graveside service will be held at Utah Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 17111 S 1700 W, Bluffdale, Utah, Wednesday September 24, 2025, at 1:00pm

Dear Jan and girls I am so sorry for your loss . Your dad and husband was a giant amd yet so humble . He gave me the desire to pursue history in college . His analytical mind always pushed you to strive for more . He will be missed I will always be grateful for the time that he spent educating students at Westminster Colege.
