Janice Hardy Sipes, a loving mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on October 22, 2025, at the age of 78, surrounded by love and family.

Born in Bountiful, Utah, Jan spent her final years in Sandy and South Jordan, Utah, where she created lasting memories with family and friends.

Jan married Raymond 'Jay' Garn in Salt Lake City, Ut. on June 28, 1968 and together they welcomed their daughter, Jenni Lynn. A few years later, they moved to Rapid City, South Dakota, where they spent several years exploring the beautiful landscapes and historical sites of the area. During this time, Jan developed a lifelong love of Black Hills gold jewelry, which she often wore.

Though they later divorced, Jan and Jay remained committed to raising their daughter and later enjoyed grandparenting together.

Jan married her soulmate of 35 wonderful years, Arthur E. Sipes on November 18, 1988 in Salt Lake City, Ut. Together they blended a family that included five children: Jenni (John) Trentman, Arthur Edward Jr. (AJ), Charles (Lori) Sipes, Marsha Nieminski, and Darrin (Mindy) Sipes. Jan cherished her role as grandmother to 10 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

Jan loved the outdoors and enjoyed long scenic drives with her husband, mountain ATV rides, camping, and road trips to Afton, Wyoming, and Yellowstone National Park—often with children and grandchildren in tow. She had a passion for cooking and baking and was known for her delicious clam chowder and lasagna, which were frequently requested at family gatherings and as Christmas and birthday gifts. In recent years, she passed on her prized recipes and baking secrets to her daughter, often spending entire days together in the kitchen.

Faith was a cornerstone of Jan’s life. As a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, she held a strong testimony of our Heavenly Father.

Jan is survived by her children and their families; her sister, Carol (Norbert) Lueckler; and her sister-in-law, Kaye (Byron) Hardy. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Arthur E. Sipes; her parents, A. Glen and Lucile Hardy; and her brother, Byron Hardy.

Jan’s family would like to express their sincere appreciation for the loving care provided by the clinicians and caretakers at Copper Creek Senior Living and Refined Hospice and Home Health.
