Our much-loved aunt and friend departed this life on March 18, 2022.
Born Ruby Jean Wells on December 3rd, 1932, to Sidney Norfolk and Ruby Wells in Salt Lake City, Utah. The second of five children, Jean doted on her siblings and was adored in return. It was in her childhood home that she developed a strong work ethic and a quick and witty sense of humor.
Jean spent her youth and attended schools in Salt Lake City. Always dedicated and hardworking she had several jobs but spent most of her career at Mountain Bell where she was much valued and respected.
Jean lived with and cared for her mother Ruby for much of her life. Their beautiful home was welcoming and comfortable and when they hosted no detail was left undone. For many years Christmas day meant a stream of family, met with food and hospitality that was unmatched.
Jean was immaculate in all that she did. From the way she kept her home to her beautiful penmanship. She was a talented artist with both needle and brush. She had her own way with words, even inventing her own if the occasion called for it. Poooshwa.
Jean will be remembered for her endless generosity. She shared her home her time and her talents without hesitation. She was an avid and knowledgeable sports fan. She loved musicals, old movies, John Wayne and Johnny Mathis and Winnie the Pooh. She was kind, engaging and fun to be with. She will forever be missed.
Jean married Larry Hargreaves who preceded her in death in 1975. Later married Verl Burt who also preceded her in death in 2017. She was also preceded in death by her parents and siblings. She is survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and friends. At Jean’s request there will be no services. Interment will be at Salt Lake City Cemetery.
