Jeffanie P. York, loved mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on May 13, 2025 after a long battle with Alzheimer’s Disease. She was born on September 11, 1943, in La Mesa, California. She grew up going back and forth between Southern California and Cocoa Beach, Florida, following her beloved father who worked at Rockwell and NASA in the US Space program. After graduating from college and getting married, she moved to Tennessee and other parts of the South before ultimately settling in Utah in 1975. She often remarked that Utah was her favorite place she had ever lived.

On March 5, 1966, Jeffanie married the love of her life, Gary York, in Cocoa Beach. They shared a remarkable and accomplished life together until his passing on May 31, 2016, shortly after their 50th wedding anniversary. They built not only a life but also a business, working side by side for more than 40 years to establish and grow Gary A. York & Associates. She loved the many clients and co-workers that she got to spend countless hours with over the years.

Jeffanie had great pride in her family. She was a loving mother to David (Mindy) and Michael (Crystal) and a proud grandmother of eight grandchildren: Emma, John, Samuel, Hudson, Avery, Caroline, Elizabeth, and Victoria as well as her nieces Kristy and Krystal. Predeceased by her parents Raymond and Norma and her sister Mary, she is survived by her brother Robert and her devoted sister Irva.

Jeffanie’s professional career spanned various roles in the business world, where her intelligence, work ethic, and adaptability left a lasting impact. Beyond her professional endeavors, she found great joy in English history, traveling to explore new places, and, of course, trivia. She could recite all of the Kings and Queens of England and tell you stories of each. A devoted reader, she could often be found with a book in hand, immersed in stories and knowledge.

She was also an avid baseball fan, with a deep admiration for legendary broadcaster Vin Scully and pitcher Sandy Koufax, who she saw play when she was young. The crack of the bat and the rhythms of the game brought her immense joy throughout her life. She loved watching her children play baseball and rarely if ever missed a game. A lifelong Dodgers fan, she loved watching her team whenever she could.

The last few years of her life were spent at Meadow Peak Assisted Living, where she had amazing staff who took great care of her. She was able to live remarkably independent until just the last few weeks of her life. The family would also like to gratefully acknowledge the amazing support and care provided by Guardian Advocate Services, Cornerstone Caregiving, and True North Home Health and Hospice.

Guestbook/Condolences

My family will miss Jeffanie. Her and Gary and the boys were part of our extended family. We have so many memories to treasure. I’m happy for the reunion that she is having with Gary, her parents, Mary and so many others. She will always be in my heart.

The York family has been such a huge part of my dad's life. My dad and Gary were such good friends. Their bond through the navy brought so much joy to him. I think there were times when if Jaffanie had not reminded Gary he had other clients Buddy would have stayed for hours. Jaffanie's passing feels like the end of a truly great generation. Sending love to all of the family and thank you for all you have done for this family
