Jemima "Mina" Smith

1934 ~ 2021

Our loving mother, daughter, sister passed away in the early morning hours of October 18, 2021 just 4 days after her 87th birthday. Born in Belfast Northern Ireland to Richard Brown and Jemima McClung Brown. In 1961 Mina served an LDS Mission in Scotland where she met her lifelong friends Eleanor Chambers Madsen and Marge Mertin aka “The Three Musketeers''. Mina came to America in December 1962 and was proud to obtain her United States citizenship in 1974. Mina loved a good laugh and had the unique ability to make everyone she met leave with a smile. She could often be found having lunch and shopping with her friends, going for long walks, dancing with her grandkids, and enjoying a cup of tea and a good book.

Mina was a bright light and will be forever missed. She is survived by the last musketeer Eleanor Madsen (Ross); brothers Lawrence Brown (Margaret); Harry Brown (Nessie); sisters Eleanor Brown (Ronnie), Maureen Fisher; daughters Shannon Kime (Michael); Kerri Priano; grandkids Zachary Priano; Anthony Priano, Jack Kime and Liam Kime, ex-husband Ken Smith along with with many nieces and nephews in Belfast.

We would like to extend our thanks to our friends at Beehive Homes of Draper and Auburn Crest Hospice for providing Mina with a safe, loving, and dignified place to live.

A celebration of life to be held Saturday, October 30, 2021. In honor of our mother, please enjoy a walk outside and a good laugh with a friend.

Shannon & Kerri we’ve known each other since 1971 and your mom was a wonderful woman every single day since. My heart hurts for you both and memories of you all will always be fond. I hope you both are able to find comfort and healing. God bless.

We are so sorry to hear of your loss. We were Mina's home teachers for years. We loved Mina and loved visiting with her and hearing her stories of Ireland and the "Three Musketeers". She was always welcoming with a smile and so gracious. We want you to know how much we loved her and how grateful we are to have been part of her life!
