Jennifer Anderson Ochoa Landis, 56, returned to her heavenly home on January 14, 2021, after a courageous battle with a long illness. Her firm belief in the promise of Jesus Christ supported her in her struggles and ultimately gave her peace.

Jenny was born in Salt Lake City, Utah on February 8, 1964, to the late William J. Anderson and Peggy Anderson Gibson. The second of four girls, she distinguished herself at a young age with her beautiful voice. She loved to sing and shared her gift throughout her life; in high school musicals, radio jingles, praise bands, and singing her babies to sleep. Jenny had a song for every occasion and would break out in song wherever she went.

A woman of varied interests, over the course of her life Jenny considered becoming an auctioneer, a crime scene investigator, a helicopter pilot, a chaplain, a substance abuse counselor, and a semi-truck driver. She was a devout Republican and was passionate about her president and the direction of her country. She loved Elvis and Rascal Flats, and a favorite song was “I Can Only Imagine” by Christian Rock band, MercyMe. Jenny also loved chocolate-dipped mint-flavored Creamies and a good murder mystery.

Jenny was outgoing, beautiful, and charismatic. She was fun-loving, had the gift of gab, and made friends easily. At Paramount Care Facility where she lived for the last six months of her life, she created what she called “her little family.” Even with aphasia from a stroke earlier in the year (that caused difficulty with communicating), she happily and lovingly taught a Bible study for these residents.

Jenny also struggled throughout her adult life with addiction and hard consequences. Jenny never wanted to be defined only by her mistakes, but she was honest about them and worked hard to be free of them. She was a devout follower of Jesus Christ and believed in His healing power. In the last year of her life, she remained optimistic and faithful, finding much healing and forgiveness. At the end, she said that she knew that she would find ultimate healing with Jesus in the next life.

Preceded in death by her parents, William J. Anderson, and Peggy Valene Hansen Gibson. Also preceded in death by her first husband, David Ochoa.

Jenny will be sadly missed by her husband, Jefferey Rolla Landis, daughters Oli (Mark) Ochoa-Woodbury and Kate (Vidur) Chengappa, grandchildren Bella “Boris” Fey Ochoa and Eliza Sophia Ochoa. Also, surviving are her siblings, Julie (Matt) Vesely, Meghan (Layne) Pantone, J. Tony Smith, Emily (Chris) DeHaan, and Annie (Scott) Noethlich.

Jenny’s ashes will be interred with a brief Remembrance of Life Ceremony at Larkin Sunset Gardens on January 30th at 3:00 p.m. Family and friends are invited to attend and share a memory. This Ceremony will be outside at The Wall of Prayer and Meditation and we will adhere to guidelines for masks and social distancing.

Guestbook/Condolences

I am saddened to hear of your passing. But I am at peace that I know you are with the Lord and more whole than you were while you lived here on earth. You were only in my life for a season but you brightened that season with your kind spirit.
