  • JoAnne Golder Hopkins, our loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother passed away peacefully on February 14, 2022 at the age of 86. Her Husband who passed twenty-six years earlier came to get his sweetheart for a Valentine reunion.

She is survived by four of her five children; Brian (Liz), DeAnne, Jeff (Sherrie), Steven (Brooke), fourteen grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren. She was preceded by her husband DeWayne, son David, her parents, three sisters, and several dogs.

JoAnne Hopkins was born December 23, 1935 in Salt Lake City, UT. She Married her best friend and sweetheart, DeWayne Hopkins, on April 13, 1956. They were later sealed in the LDS Salt Lake Temple. Together they raised five children in an 1100 square foot home in Rose Park, Utah. JoAnne was a legal secretary for many years. She took great pride in her work. JoAnne was a very talented woman. She loved to do Lladro, and created many beautiful porcelain dolls, they are cherished by her children and grandchildren. She crocheted, wrote beautiful poems, kept genealogy, and made the best orange rolls that were fought over at every Thanksgiving. In her later years she enjoyed many traveling adventures with life-long friends, as well as shows, dinners, and outings with the “Condo Chicks”. She was loved and will be dearly missed by her family and friends.

Such wonderful memories of the Golder family! Loved Joanne and Margie, Joyce and Gloria. We lived next door to each other for many years, and I practically lived with them! They taught me how to put on nylons and keep the “seam” straight! To hold shredded wheat under hot water before adding sugar and milk, so much better. After Joanne got married, I tended their kids many times in Rose Park. I am so grateful for the many memories. My regret is that we didn’t stay in touch. Love and prayers to her family❤️🙏🏻

It seems like yesterday Joanne and I were going to ceramics class making holiday items. I remember taking on a Christmas village that I could not finish because Codi’s birth came early. Joanne finished the village for us. We later went on to make dolls. Joanne and Dewayne were wonderful parents and grandparents and we enjoyed many dinners and a special trip to Disneyland. I am grateful for all the kindness and the memories. May all those memories bring you peace and happiness.

I can not express how deeply grateful I am to JoAnne and DeWayne for the positive and sensible influence they both had over my life. I love them both along with the entire Hopkins clan. I am humbly appreciative for everything they have done for me over the years. She will be missed. God bless you all. #6

Sending love to the Hopkins family. Momma Hopkins was a second mom to me growing up in Rose Park. She was always so kind and welcoming to her home. The many band trips her and dad chaperoned are a true treasure I will always remember.
