1943 ~ 2025
August 17, 1943 - November 29, 2025
Joyce Ann Corum, our beloved wife and mother, passed away November 29, 2025 in Riverton, Utah at the age of 82.
The third oldest of 6 children, she was born in Canoga Park, California on August 17, 1943 to Leola Fern Baxter and Ottie Robert Aills.
She met and married her husband, Donald Corum, in California and later moved to Utah, which became her permanent home. She had 6 children and was a devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served in many positions in the church throughout her life and she and Donald served 2 missions as service missionaries and worked in family history research.
She loved to read and has more books than can be counted. She loved to sew and made tons of quilts for her family and the children’s hospital. She loved owls and would sew an owl into quilts she made for family so that they would remember her. She also loved to go thrift shopping and to go to the Quilted Bear. And she loved bright colors, especially in the fall time.
Throughout her life, she collected many things. But most important were people. People from all walks of life, people who became family. Many of her children’s friends still call her mom.
In her final years, she would say, “They call these the golden years… golden years my ass!” We would laugh at this with her and we decided together that these were the “rust years.” She and her husband have a unique sense of humor together, and the banter between the two of them will be greatly missed.
Joyce is survived by her husband, Donald Corum; her children, Robert Corum, Sarah Hill, Jennifer Beardall, and Richard Corum; as well as her siblings, Jacob Aills, Betty McCallister, and Vina Wise.
Joyce is preceded in death by her son James Corum and her daughter Sorcha Arvidell, step-brother David Briles, youngest brother Ottie Aills Jr., and her parents.
The family will be holding a small celebration of her life with only family and close friends. They ask that you honor Joyce by taking good care of yourself, your family, and cherishing time with all your loved ones.
My love and prayers go out to you and your family Sarah. I have never had the honor of meeting your Mom, but I do you and I knew your sister and she raised amazing strong beautiful smart women, so that tells me all I need to know. May her soul find peace and love in our Savior our Lord Jesus Christ Amen.
Joyce was my Visiting Teacher for many years. I have missed her presence in my home since the pandemic changed everything. May you be comforted at this time.
Our prayers are with you.
Earl and Marie

I was married to David Mathew Corum, and during the brief period I lived in Utah, I enjoyed going to visit Aunt Joyce. Her passing breaks my heart, as she was such a sweet woman. I wish the family a very Merry Christmas, and prayers for peace and healing through the New Year. Much love, Kerry
Joyce and my mom Jackie were BFFs from they day we moved to Sandy Utah in 1972. So sad to see of her passing as I am at another service in our old ward house today. May God's spirit be with the corum family. Untill we meet again.
