Karen Ruth Wathen Wilfong

1943 ~ 2022

Karen Ruth Wathen Wilfong, 79, our mother, grandmother and friend passed away September 1, 2022.

Born April 6, 1943, in Salt Lake City, Utah. Daughter of Henry and Cora Wathen, sister of Victor Henry Wathen and Wanda Wathen Williams.

Karen’s pleasures in life were found in the service of others, the moments with her family and friends, playing her tablet games: ‘Hay Day’ and ‘Farmville’, crocheting, watching and commenting on her loved one’s adventures on Facebook. Karen spent most weekends with her best friend Dee playing cards, bingo and her slot machines in Mesquite and Wendover, Nevada.

Karen is survived by her daughters, Cheryl Ostler Hansen (Dale), Julie Ostler Fronk (Earl), her son Robert “Bobby” Henry Ostler (Leticia); 25 grandchildren and spouses; 21 great grandchildren, 2 great great grandbabies on the way and her dear friend, Diana “Dee” Proveaux.

Funeral services will be held Friday, September 9, 2022, at Larkin Sunset Gardens, 1950 East Dimple Dell Road, Sandy, Utah. A family viewing will begin at 12:30 p.m. and graveside services will follow at 1:00 p.m..

So sorry about the loss of your mother. I wish we had know we sure would have been there. She and Tony were very close and they always were kidding with other. He was very sad today when I found her obituary. Growing up I so admired her. She was so pretty. When I would go to grandma and grandpa Wathens she would let me go in her room and sit on her bed and we would talk. I am sure that mother and uncle Victor are so happy to have their sister back.
